Undercover at Ford Meet ACE Cafe
I went deep undercover last night with a fellow SNer FurryDice, top lad ,to the Ford meet at Ace Cafe. As predicted rolled lip tailpipes, bailey dump valves, bass and neons were in full effect . However the crowd which must have been 300++ were all buzzing and in great spirit. The roads were jammed and there was no parking in the immediate vicinity, which I thought might have ultimately been a blessing in disguise, as I didn't fancy an RS nudging my STi .
You can really tell that the Ford boys are keen on their motors, there were examples there older than me but in pristine condition, sparkling engine bays and stripped out, caged up interiors looking as if they mean business . These show stoppers were well balanced out by cars owned and used for their purpose, a few drift cossies were displaying their balance and poise while gracefully circling the roundabout with plumes of smoke bellowing out from the tyres . Two old school escorts began to do their doughnuts in synchronisation and impressed the crowd with both drivers ability , these we then joined by an old V12 XJS that nearly out smoked the lot of them and a new mustang that gave it some throttle and secured it's place in my heart as an absolute monster, what an exhaust note talk about rolling thunder!! The boys in blue showed up at intervals throughout the night, but let activity carry on, it was all regimental and other road users were very aware and space between cars was well maintained. I dont condone this sort of behaviour but i wont chastise the offenders either.
Unfortunalty i have to report our chosen marque was let down by some guy in his Scooby trying to dougnut the thing, he looked as comfortable at the wheel of his car as a tight rope walking polar bear in mexico and the crowd soon let him know their disapproval and lack of driving ability...if your reading this mate, PRACTICE.
All in all it was a great meet and one which I will be attending again
