Default Which scooby?

Hello everyone!

Im currently driving a Honda Civic Type-R and have been looking to change my car for a while now... Ive looked at a whole range of cars, including a Ford Focus RS (didnt go for this as its FWD), a BMW M5 E39 (didnt go for this as I really wanted a turbo), and an Evo (didnt go for this as the service costs etc were a joke). So this bought me to the scooby, I just dont know which one to get, I suppose I would have about 13 or 14k max to spend on one.

The shape I want is the one after the bug eyed one, the one with the nicer front lights. Im not sure weather I should be concidoring a JDM spec one as I have read they are easier to tune? But what price are they?

If I did buy a UK spec one, are they easily tunable? I suppose in the long run id be looking for 300bhp+.

Thanks in advance.

Doidge.

An 03 STI should easily be in your budget privately - get one with PPP and you have over 300 BHP+ to start with.

Doubt you would pick up a JDM for that money your after, though you "may" find a uk 03 model STi, but im not promising anything as they go for about 2k more than what your asking.

Also worth noting that power isn't everything. I have my 03 WRX PPP (265bhp, 4.8s, 155) up for sale at £12.4k at the moment and it has shown a clean pair of heals to many much more powerful variations (including an STi PPP TSL333 and a 420bhp classic recently) due to the extensive work I have put into the suspension and chassis. The power is perfectly sufficient for the car, but the handling is sublime with supreme control through fast corners, unlike standard Scoob suspension which excessively oversteers, and the puke inducing rear end bobbing which is more pronounced on STi's.

Just in case you're interested... CLICKY

Ive also heard of "performance packs" that different companies do?

What are the popular ones? and how much are they?

Thanks again.

Having come back to Scooby-land from a CTR I would say get yourself the youngest standard STi you can, with a bit of warrantly left if you want peace of mind, then you can decide to add the mods as required.

PPP is largely disappointing for the money and as you mention there are many cheaper and better tuning packages available. There are many write ups of the packages in here and I suspect a lot will depend on where you live as to who you choose to use.

If you think you are really going to go for it on the mods front go for a JDM car or even better a Spec C, I would if I was starting out again!!
