Are they out to get me?
#1
Have had the Scoob a few months now so am used to people pulling out without warning on dual-carriageways & motorways to stop me going past.
Yesterday I had a green Focus sit in the overtaking lane of a 2 lane dual-carriageway at 60 mph for approx. 5 miles before the road widened to 3 lanes & I could get past.
I purposely don't do anything to antagonise people in this situation. I don't sit on their bumper or flash my lights - I just sit a reasonable distance behind and indicate right when there is no traffic in the inside lane.
This works with people who just weren't paying attention but not the 'blockers'.
Is it me or the car they have the problem with?
The ultimate was a month ago when a traffic light pulled out in front of me! Actually it was a temporary traffic light at roadworks that got knocked over by a digger just as I was going past. Result: hole in front bumper & £500 repair bill! (I'm now trying to get my excess back from the cable company that was digging up the road)
Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean that they're not out to get me!

Sounds like you've been pretty unlucky in the short time you've had the car. I haven't had anyone purposely pull out to stop me going past - in fact they are either oblivious of my existence behind them, or they move over. I guess you've come across a bunch of to55ers - that's all.
BTW don't be paranoid. They're not out to get you. Everyone knows (but they're not saying) that they're all after me.

Sadman:
I remember a guy who used to work at my last place, who happened to give me a lft home once. I saw an blue M3(or are they all blue?) coming up behind us and told the guy to pull over so I could get a look.(the BMW driver was not a "bumper hugger" either).
He said to me, no chance and also said don't look at the car, when he eventually had to pull over for it....he was the real "SADMAN", he was driving a renault megane with a matt finish to make it even worse.
there's a lot to be said about JEALOUSY....
hope that helps....

That guy you were talking about sounds like a real petty minded to55er.
If I see a nice car I walk up to it and have a look. I'll never own a Ferrari but I can appreciate them, and don't resent the people who can afford them.
The guy you're talking about sounds like the type who sees a nice car and goes and scratches it with his keys out of spite.
Sad really....

Yeh...I'm the same....I think that's a good outlook to have on life. Although we ALL have our bad days when the cavalier boys(now known as Jason M)just have to be tought a lesson..LOL
seriously though, if I see a guy driving a P 959 then good luck to him.
Anyway, for the SAD to55ers....here is a question:
you have £500....do you:
a) Treat the wife
b) Pay extra off the mortgauge
c) Decorate the bedroom
or
d) spend it on the car, say nothing to the wife/girlfriend & take her for a meal?
hhmmm....now I wonder???

My worst time was when an Escort van pulled out to overtake in front of me whilst travelling up the A63. I braked to back off and waited patiently for 2 miles until he put his foot down to finally overtake the car he was overtaking - all the time he was watching me waiting to pass in his mirror
Poor sad person
And Hooksin. Phill.M. would go for option d
Wait while his wife sees this, sorry Phill
