Why don't they make a 2 week delay between registering and being allowed to start posting? That way the idiots that join just to aide an argument will be bugg@rd Also novaboys etc would lose interest in a 2 week wait!

Wait 2 weeks? Nah.....
Forums like these depend on people just surfing their way here and staying. Putting a 2 week wait on registrations will mean that the board will get very few new members at all.
The forum would quickly go stale and die

OK maybe 2 weeks is a bit long but some sort of delay! All it takes is one idiot to start a post then go back to novadom and post a link! Then max power on tour hits scoobynet with loadsa nova newbies

I don't own a Scoob - considered one a while ago - P1, but stayed with he VI. Surely, a BB is the ideal place for newbies to learn about their prospective cars so why inhibit free speech.
If it gets out of hand then your moderators will put the flames out.
As mentioned on the VI post, as long as there is no personal attacks then let the likes of me join your Board. You are aslo right in saying that we will get bored very quickly. But so what at least it gets a decent discussion going.
That's my 2p.

BlueEVO,
Nothing against people who wanna join, we're just fed up of new people joining up and flodding the BBS with crap, pointless posts and posts designed to just wind people up/get a reaction.
I'd like to think that people on here could just act their age and ignore them but it's hard when you're being provoked.
Matt
P.S. Welcome to the board

Hey WOAH GUYS!!!!
As an established muppet on this board I do not wish to be associated with some of the idiots who post in general!!!!
Leave us true muppets out of this...............I am sure there is a more appropriate word for the idiots enticing flame wars on here and it is probably best left unsaid
Michelle.

MIchelle I thought that the Muppet forum was created exactly for these types of posters being talked about?
I think that in fact you should be stopped from diluting the true intention of the Muppet Forum, as it is no doubt giving the wrong impression to newbies of Michellenet er sorry Scoobynet, nope I was right the first time Michellenet

LOL
True, but I tend to see the muppet forum as a nice community rather than full of boy racer ****** who want to go oh my car is faster than yours, here look at the size of my **** - it must be big coz I have got a wide boy kit on my car, your scoobies are **** because I say so.....blah, blah, yawn, yawn.........
That kind of drivel should be kept off this BBS full stop.
After all Max Power, REVS and Fast Car, do have websites - o is it **** sites? I can never tell
Wouldn't you agree?

What I am saying is that originally the Muppet forum was intended to dump all the crap that litters the bbs. If you do a search for Kevin2000 and his Koni equipped Cavalier you will see what I mean. It is a shame that such a good bbs has become www.LetsWasteSomeTime.net IMOH of course.

Fair point
So it has changed from MichelleNet then
Everyone on the muppet forum seems happy with how things are though.
As long as we don't invade the other forums I am sure it will keep everyone happy

I Think that the point being made is that the revheads are just out to get the my Maxxed Nova/Saxo/Corsa/?????? (insert any other crap car here) is better than yours posts up and get a rise out of the serious posters. If they actually saved up for a bit and spent less on plasticky poor quality parts they would be able to afford a Scooby and even maybe insure it. IMHO.

They'd still drive them like joyriders.......
I know of 2 people in my old area that were/are damn dangerous drivers and both somehow managed to get scoobies Both a bit younger than me. They got 10 times worse when they got scoobs.... I ended up decking one of them when he came hurtling into my cul-de-sac, almost took out my sisters car and screeched to a stop, tapping into a kid's bike outside my house, knocking him off. No damage to the kid, but I saw all of this from my bedroom window, went down stairs and cracked him twice across the head.......
Never saw him in my road again after that, but have moved since.
They should have aptitude tests for different cars methinks......
Nick.

I think thats a bit unfair really. I own a RA and also dont know an awful lot about cars. Forums like this enable people like me to get information. I wasn't aware that you had to be an expert to join the forum.

I knew little about cars when I joined here.
The people I have met, spoke to and know have helped me and for the first time I am servicing my own car and doing some repair work on it

Maybe let new guys (yeah, just like me) only reply to topics for the first two weeks or so before letting 'them' enter new topics about how many tail pipes for better handling etc.
I am a bit more active on the technical question and stupidity part of the UltimateSubaruMessageBoard because I still own an old Subaru (a Turbo it is though) but not for long I will get my hands on a modern era Turbo (McRae scored his first WRC win in one of them).
Anyway, don't generalise the Newbies too much!
P.S. I'm not a MaxPower nor an EVO reader. I rather read the roads in the German Eifel!

OK.. official stance time..
New members are VERY VERY welcome here.. and I don't just mean officially, I think I speak for all memeber when I say that we love to "meet" new members and are happy to pass on our knowledge, etc..
The only things we don't like in the main forums is stupid / irritating posts.. whether they be from new or existing members.
These posts are moved to the muppet show (especially now as the new software allows the moderators to be warned about, and act on these threads much quicker.
I really don't think it's a problem as when they appear, they are moved.
The muppet show is still officially the place that these threads are moved to. The reason for this is so that the people that want to join in the banter still can, but they do not dilute the valuable content in the main forums.
Unnofcially the muppet show has taken on an "under-ground" cult status.. which is also fine.
I think people would be hard pushed to find more than the odd thread here and there that remains in the general forum for any length of time if it should have been moved.
best regards
webmaster
