Red face Engine needs rebuild - where to take it

Hi,

Today my engine started making knocking noises I know it will be the main bearings so my question is.

Who would be the best place to take it for a rebuild, I live in Leicester and have used Roger Clark Motorsport before but I know they will be expensive, I have heard of API http://www.apiengines.com.... does anyone have any news of these guys and if there work is OK.

Thanks Rich

mate,
there are a few very good scooby specialists - api / scoobyclinic / graham goode racing...
all know what they are adoing with very good reps.. just ring around for advice and go with whichever you are happy with...

Hmmmm, well ok ..... post in the suppliers and dealers section and you will get some advice.

OR do a search on engine rebuilds ...

By all accounts API are very good .... but not cheap AFAIK

Sorry to hear of your misfortune! That sucks!

*insert Jingle tape*

API!!!

Wherever you go, make sure they know Scoobies and don't just take the cheapest quote, it won't be so cheap if you have to pay to get the work done a second time!! It DOES happen! People have also had ended up with Legacy cams in an Impreza and so forth; lots of cowboys and muppets out there!! API and RCM are GENUINE experts! I've not personally dealt with RCM but know people that have and you'll never find a bad word about them! I have dealt with API and can tell you that David and the team are great to deal with and have loads of very happy customers.

All I will say is be prepared for a substantial bill; I'm afraid this is not going to be cheap whatever you do- you will have to pay. Sorry!

Regrettably, yes they do....was it an import per chance?

It might just be a loose something attached to the engine?

Why don't people re-build their own engines ... I doubt that its difficult and the parts are readily available?

Take a week off work and do a nice slow methodical job, think of the pleasure and it's actually paying you maybe £1000 for that week!

Most of the cost is Labour after all
