sti v3 or v4
can anyone tell me is the engine ina v3 sti different than a v4 if so which one is better.also did anyone ever see or hear of any jap sti impreza v3's with abs .as im lookin at buying one which has abs onit

The difference between the sti v3 and v4 engine wise is different cams on the the v4 and the v4 has a vf24 turbo whereas the v3 has the vf23. The only v3 imprezas that do not come with abs are the RA and Type R versions. the standard STI has abs.

Beat me to it...
V3 can be prone to piston slap, not a serious problem but one you're better understanding before making your mind up.
V3 cylinder heads & cams are favoured by the serious modders plus turbo lag and kick are a bit more severe than v4.
p.s. owned a V3 for almost 7 yrs now - never really missed a beat.

I am biased as i have a STI 3 but have not driven a V4 so cannot really say which better.
What i will say though is the V4 has the newer dash, which so much better than the early dash on the V3. I would advise you drive both cars then make a decision.

yeah the newer interior does look better ,but at the mo all the v4's ive seen r white and the v3 i seen was black and thats the only colour i like.so thats a factor aswell for me .but as i say its just the difference in the engines im concerned about .just would like peoples opinions bout both cars as thers alot of u's who have had one r the other .
