OT: Garage damage Renault
#1
My father went to collect his Renault Megane from the dealership today, after it had been in for some checks. The work was carried out and he was asked to collect the car. When he arrived to collect the car, he was accompanied to the car by the service manager who was going to change the windscreen wipers for him.
However, when he approached the car, he noticed a big dent in the drivers side front wing and associated damage to other parts. Whoever parked the vehicle up after the work had hit a lampost and damaged the car, but had decided to keep quiet and not tell anybody, more than likely hoping my dad wouldnt notice the big dent! No doubt if he had driven off and arrived home without noticing they would have tried to blame it on him.
The garage is going to repair the damage, but lets just say my dad is understandably less than happy. Does he have a case for claiming compensation?
Any thoughts/advice would be welcome.
Howard.

As a service manager this is one of my worst nightmares. All my guys are trustworthy and would tell me if they damaged a car whilst in our care. I have known incidents where another customer has damaged a car and we realy did know nothing about it.
Sounds to me like the car was parked on a street after the work?
It's good that their going to repair the damage, as far as compensation goes, I don't think you stand much chance, after all they are offering to right their wrong.
I guess the most you could hope for is some money off/free next service.
