Unhappy 30k servicing fright

Hi Guys,

15 months into scooby ownership and i dropped the wrx off for its 30k service. Always knew it would be expensive, but whilst having the gearbox out (dont ask) they tell me that somones fragged my clutch

All the way up to four figures including the service

I know when i drive it again tomorrow i'll be smiling like a cheshire cat, but damn its expensive.

Moral support appreciated

Oops. As mine an import do the work myself apart from cambelt change £300 notes F. Speaking to the service manager he commented that Subaru do a tool for locking the right hand bank but not the left. to do this side he has bought a universal tool. So for the more adveturous might be worth looking into getting two tools and doing the job yourself. Might consider in 50k when next due.

Sorry for asking, but "whilst having the gearbox out". Why was the gearbox removed and I take it you authorised the additional work.

Deano.

What do they also mean by "someone's fragged your clutch" or was this the reason for taking the box out in first place?

If it's any consolation when mine was in for its 30k service they noticed my discs were scored, pads unevenly worn. Ended up with a £860 bill (inc a new fog lamp).

Then a couple of months later the gearbox went, cue another £1600.

I Know just how you feel put my catalunya in for a 90k service expecting it to be about £450-500, ended up over a grand and was without my car for 5 days!

I've been with http://www.tritonmotorsport.co.uk for over 3 years now and bar one small glitch I have been more than happy....

Under 300 for a full service; each time the car is returned it feels like new!
Tight, fluid and responsive.

Give it up for Triton

Deano.
1st gear was getting increasingly hard to select, so they are changing the front synchro - im told this is under warranty, and yep it was authorised. I should point out 1st had always been hard to select.

Speak to the service manager and see if they will do the clutch under warranty. Only 30k miles for a clutch, do you do the traffic light grandprix?
