Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy a new imported STi (pref UK spec)? Trying hard to convert my GT4 owning friend here!

Cheers for that, I take it you don't find them pleasing to look at then!

if you think that is a good price - check out the price in australia - announced at $55,130 - that's £19,500 !!!

aussies have also dropped the price of the WRX to compensate

Yes,

but if you have any options at all on the STi (metallic paint ?), it will take the car above the luxury tax threshold I believe, meaning something like an extra 10%. Still a lot cheaper than elsewhere in the world though (apart from Japan).

I hope the prices of the "official" Subaru UK supplied STi are sensible to match the pricing elsewhere in the world. Anything more than £27 - £28k for the basic model will probably mean lots of cars sitting around the showrooms as dealer demonstrators.
