Warrenty issue
The warenty on my 02 WRX has expired, however , less than a year ago i had the power steering pump changed under the warrenty.
The steering has again started to become really stiff at times, requiring a rev to loosen it up, pointing towards pump failure agin.
Even though the warrenty has finished, surely any work carried out within this period would have its owns warrenty period.
Or am i gonna get told to bugger off

Hi Cookstar. There isn't "warranty on warranty" or it would be everlasting, but I'd contact my dealer and ask them to ask Subaru for goodwill especially as it's a repeat failure. You might get a favourable response.......you never know.

The way i see it is, if i paid for a pump to be fitted, and it failed within a year, they would change it.
Why would it be different if the warrety paid for it to be changed?

comic_cuts is correct. The warranty on any replaced part only lasts to the end of the original warranty period.
As you haven't paid for the replacement it is up to the warranty to claim off itself for the outstanding warranty You won't see the benefit anyway. When you have paid for this pump it will be covered by a guarantee of some sort (1 year ?).
I would hope for some goodwill gesture. Why don't you threaten to go public on a scooby BBS if they don't pay up? Whoops.

the part will come with 1 years warranty, i had this issue when i had a peugeot 306 Rallye, power steering pump as well. The part was 7 months old when it started intermittingly went off.
all i had to do was pay the labour bill for the replacement, so i dont see why this should be any different
im sure i read this on SIDC mid last year with a guy who had the same problem with an engine faliure 4 months before the warrenty ran out, and failing againg 3 months after it ran out, he got the engine replaced i think, will try to find it
