MY02 WRX, just approaching 30k miles, so needs the service.
I live in the Preston area, any ideas of how much i should be paying.

Cheers guys

It's the 4 years that matter, not the 30,000miles!

So, I reckon you are in for a big bill ........

My Classic cost £650 on the 4 year, Cambelt Service .... nothing was replaced bar the service items!

It could easily hit £1000 if you need brakes sorted and a tyre or two!

Plus, of course, there is the 'Bulbs-All-Round' scam .... because they are a bit dim!!

You are kidding ....right ?...
Got 4 new tyres just before Xmas, and new brake pads in June/July last year, but £600 for a service is a robbery !...

About £400 according to the bills I have. Dealer job in Somerset. It was a classic but I dont figure theres a huge difference in parts or labour. Looked like £200 plus in labour charges.

I've just had the 3year/30,000 done on mine (MY03) + first MOT, and with no other items at all (no tyres, no brake pad or discs etc) just service items, it was £530ish from main dealer.

If yours is a MY02 surely it should be heading for the 4year service which is a little oil change one isn't it ?? The biggy should have been carried out last year unless the service intervals have changed between MY02 and MY03 cars.

Given that the Preston dealer has packed up (no real loss then) you could try Prosport. (they are in Stockport, 35mins, are are very, very good Subaru agents)

They are authorised Subaru dealers and were my dealer of choice when I had a Scooby. For top quality you could also try Stan Palmers, although they are 80 miles away. Weirdly, even with the fuel included, my 30k'er was still cheaper with Stan Palmers.

There's not a great deal of good options around the Lancs area if you are looking to keep to Subaru approved places.

Try www.ladsoc.co.uk for the local gurus

Just had the 30k service on my STi8 and that was £450. I also had this service on my 2001 WRX a couple of years ago and that was £420

These figures are just for the service and do not include any additional work that may be required.

Just had 75k service on my MY99 uk turbo done at Prosport in Stockport. Can't fault the level of service I received. Total cost was £389, but this included front brakepads, a new MAF and a couple of other 'odds and sods'. Car was returned to me washed and vacuumed. Got a courtesy car too. Mechanic was happy to answer all of my questions about my planned mods too... (even though I bet he's been asked them 1000s of times before by newbies like me).

Had mine done a while ago. MY02 30000 mile service. £420. Thats the cheapest I think. If you need brakes or tyres I suggest you get them done somewhere else before taking it to Subaru as the charge a fortune for bits like that.

By the consumables yourself:
Tyres, screen wash, Brake pads and oil you can source much cheaper than the dealer charges (in fact less then half !!)

Ist service in berkshire I was quoted £250, same service in Bedforshire £112

Dealers are ripping us off, so shop around.

Go independant..... full service and cam belt change on my my00 classic was £360 plus vat at API last weekend,if its out of warranty then theres no need to be paying the inflated prices main dealers charge, they will look after your car just as good if not better ( i worked in main dealers for over 20 years)
