What percentage of Scooby owners in the UK use Scobynet?
#1
I waved to a UK Wagon owner on the way home from work and I thought - I wonder if he uses Scoobynet.
Then I thought to myself - just how many Scooby owners in the UK do use scoobynet?
Webmaster, statos - anyone know care to take a guess?
I guess we could find the rough number of Scoobies on the road in the UK and the number of members on Scoobynet and then guess at how many Scoobynet owners actually drive Scoobies.
Sounds like a lot of guess work but I'd love to know.
20%, 60% ??

If you assume that all scoobynetters wave at each other then not a very big percentage
However as a rough guide I usually assume that if it's a bog standard car and the driver doesn't wave then it's a rep-mobile/company car and therefore probably not a scoobynetter
Of course I will probably now be proved wrong....

Yeah you know, it is actually quite noticeable how many scooby owners do not wave any more. Some mornings I see 3 or 4 scoobs and 2 of those are female drivers, the women never wave, and most of the guys don't any more. Today for instance came steaming out of Swindon another scoob behind me he got up next to me and I looked over expecting a wave and didn't even get a look of acknowledgement.
Sometimes I think there are still a few guys out there who feel threatened by 'us girls' driving scoobs.

Hello
I only drive mine at the weekends, but during the week if you see a blue j reg 1.2 clio flashing and waving round cirencester way, it will be my girlfriend or myself (get some odd looks).
When i'm in my car (reddish blue) and i see another scoob, i do wave and more often than not, get a response. I have never been seen by anyone on the bbs though
Cheers all

I guess we need to know:
a) What percentage of Scoobynet users actually own Scoobies?
then we could work out...
b) what percentage of Scooby drivers in the UK use Scoobynet (if we know approximately how many Scoobies are on the road in the UK)
SDB - sort it out

You can't just divide the number of Scoobies on the road by the number of members, as not all members drive a scoob's. I don't. Not by choice as I can't afford one YET! But am only 22 so will get one someday.
So what you really need to find is how many have infiltrated the ranks, and how many have move onto different thinks, take this away from the membership number and then use that to divide the number of road legal scoobies minus a random number divide by twelve, subtract your mothers birthdate, times by your age and add 1. This should give you a figure accurate to 27 decimal places.
Hope this helps?????

I think that they do Scoobynet visor strips or something.
I think Kurt had a good idea...a luminous yellow spot in the windscreen or something similar. Wouldn't have to be huge - just a small bright circle to identify Scoobynet users.
Then you could be sure of getting a wave!

I think Chris D is right - not enough people know that scoobynet exists although with the amount of recent publicity it's had I think that may be changing. Whenever we go to a race meeting we see scoobs in the car park or identify scooby peeps in the crowd (by their SWRT clothing) and given the opportunity (or enough alcohol ) I talk to them to see if they're scoobynetters, if they're not we point them this way
We've often said that what we need are little scoobynet flyers to put under peoples wipers as we pass their cars in the car park. This could also be done in the local supermarket, diy store etc etc.

I agree with you Chris. A friend of mine who had an MR2 mentioned Scoobynet to me when I had my Rover. I always loved Scoobies and thought I'd take a look. A couple of months later I saw a WRX for sale and went and took it for a drive and fell in love with it and bought it the next week.
Had it not been for it coming up in conversation with my friend I wouldn't have the car that I have now. (what a disturbing thought)

Hello Mate
Maybe I should have mention the RSOC BB to you when you had that rover Would of got a "proper" car then
With regards to you question, I reckon a very small percentage, as alot of farmers dont own pc's
Making myself laugh......!

Having been a 'scoob' owner for 3 weeks, I was so looking forward to waving to other 'scoobs' that I could of burst.
Sunday before last took trip down to Southampton. I waved at 5 Impreza's. Only got a smile back from one bloke who looked very confused (probably a Sunday driver ?)
Have only had 1 wave from a silver new age so far. Hope it improves.

You may have a good idea there me old girl. (ignore the old bit)
Perhaps we could make up some flyers and issue 10-20 flyers per SIDC member upon re-newing membership to leave on fellow scooby owners cars upon spotted in car parks etc. Each flyer could have an ISSUED BY *** (membership number) and they could post on the *WAS IT YOU* or *FEATURE* forums.
Something to think about eh!! or am I thinking stupidly. answers on a postcard please.
