2 door classic / 4 door re-shell
I would like a two door classic, may be with wide arch WRC kit fitted, pardon me for not knowing the correct model name for a two door Impreza.
I have a real nice MY93 WRX-RA & have spent quite a few quid on it, all mechanically, no visual stuff.
I have had a thought, what's the possibilty of finding a straight two door shell, with potentially a blown engine etc then spending time grafting my equipment 'where possible'.
I'm continuing with investment for my RA, however is this possible to stop investment in my 4 door & start to think about this kind of project.
Your thoughts & idea's would be appreciated

a few years ago 'Mk1 & MK11' escorts providing you kept the original rear axle from the doner vehicle & added this to the one being / built-re-shelled, it was game on, of course the engine number too.
Today, with this particular example I would surrender my engine details from my RA, then add the details to the type R. then sell my RA shell without engine & gearbox, stating on log book that no engine number is available.
Easy

You cant use a two door bodyshell with the Type-RA's registration and you cant transfer the running gear of the RA to a two door car and keep its registration. The only way that you can do it legally is to buy a registered Retna bodyshell that has all of its principal components still fitted and fit the RA's engine. Theres a points system for qualification thats explained on the DVLA website.
