I have discovered a major problem with Optimax. It seems to evapourate much more so than anything other SUL.

I put in my tank and it the tank needle just goes all the way down to E - I just don't understand it. I have also found that the car lunges forward, I press the accelerator and it just shoots off as if I have been hit from behind by the Great Western Commuter express. I've filled up twice since Friday and have only been pootling around as normal - including a quick trip to Swindon.

It also seems to affect my mouth in that it makes the muscles in my cheeks seem to tense up and draw up the corners revealing all of my teeth. Very puzzling.

The other problem is that my backbox seems to be full of manic tennis ***** that rattle around everytime I take my foot of the throttle.

Off to email my findings to Shell immediately.

Yep, I've still to do an ECU reset but even now the car pulls better at low revs &, thanks to an ITG filter from TSL, it pulls a lot better at the top end too!

I havn't grinned so much since the day I got the car

bar stewards! Have trouble even finding SUL here in the land of "bog-trotting paddies"! Send over a tankful if you find the time!

Well - if you think it sounds good with optimax in - try optimax and a bottle of octane per tank full - takes the octane over 100 - close to what it should be!! It goes Whooooosh on accelaration - and makes the most incredible popping banging and general other gorgeous noises - i end up accelerating and then taking my foot off the throttle just to hear the orchestra!!

Couldn't find any in Cardiff whilst back on the weekend - anyone know where they stock it there?

Seems to me that the RON is over a point higher than SUL = GOOD THING. It is also cheaper!

This is a dark confusion of speculation, subtle perceptions, brimstone and treacle we now seem to descend into, so each man for their own!

Pops and bangs like a good 'un mind and seems a little errr, nippier...

Hope it helps,

You are both too good to me! When can I have Scoobynet avail in the motor for such dire emergencies!!!??? D

Just checked and I would have more chance of finding a nun in a pink wig playing something by Steps on the harpsichord than finding Optimax in Kaaardiff!!!

hmmm interesting, good to see that you guys are pleased with it and it seems to be doing wonders, and after first using in my cossie i noticed a difference too. Had Mark at MADevelopments check it out and his official stance is that its good stuff (as a basic test, he had an escort cossie come to him detting badly, filled the half full SUL tank up with Optimax, and once mixed, the det had gone

Strange bit i find weird though, Dingy and Shaggy did a test and found Shaggys scoob detting much earlier on with optimax than SUL, but they were using one of those knock sensor jobbies which apparently are not all that good from what ive heard (as they can pick up anything!)

What do you make to that? knock sensor not too good? shaggys scoob knackared? bad batch of petrol? not doing the test right? etc

Andy,

my own analysis has been based on full PC datalogging of what is going on in the engine. Optimax has enabled me to increase advance in ALL areas of boost AND increase the safety margin to the det line. No det is in evidence datalogging right down to the noise floor.

It clearly works for my car - it may not work for all cars, although there may be other factors at play.

I am keen that Shell continue with this fuel - I am addicted

I've run Optimax in my 22b and MY00PPP and they both run better than ever.

Unhappy

Well, I been using Optimax pretty much since it came out, MY00 full ScoobySport system. Thought I'ld give it a change at the weekend put Esso SUL in.

The car is no way running anywhere near as good now pulling power seems considerably weaker, no pops or bangs on let off/gear change. Can't wait to get the Esso tank to empty so I can fill er up with some Optimax again

Its works for me

My first tankful of Optimax, amazing no pops or bangs yet though? Will they appear on my second tank?

Noticably better using Optimax, but how do I do an ECU reset?
