Exclamation Anyone wanna share £6k with me??

Posted this car a while ago which was on ebay. Basically guy selling an Impreza, listed as an STI. It was quite clearly a WRX but he insisted it was an STI. I emailed him to be friendly and point it out (as others had done in his questions section) because he's missleading the less informed about the car. He even put up the model code of the car (which matched a v2 WRX, not sti)

Anyway, car is back on ebay. Again listed as an STI. Funnily enough one of his questions was

Q: Hi mate will you end auction early i have £3500 cash straight away

A: You are not buying a WRX trubo..thanks

Quite ironic really!

Now this is the best bit, he's offered to give me £6k if I come down and it's not an STI. Anyone wanna join me

Take a look at the new ebay ad (and remember that he's allready put up the wrx model code on his old auction for it)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1995-N-PLATE-S...QQcmdZViewItem

I emailed him this..

Hi, I've emailed you before..

This car is a WRX with sti badges, can you tell me why you think its an sti? You even had the model code up last time it was on ebay and that model code was for a WRX Don't really think it's fair missleading people.

A genuine STI on this year will have.. A silver intercooler (same size and slant as yours but silver), an sti strut brace (this is not a std sti one), sti gearknob (shorter with red stitching), sti steering wheel, sti seats, the rev counter would display a higher redline (as sti's rev higher), sti badge/plaque on the suspension turret, etc etc

His reply

You just don't have any idea about STI.. you just read silly website created by ordinary people.. any way i offer you before to come down with 6000.00 GBP and have a look and test the car if its not an STI i will give you 6000.00 GBP for your inconvenience and if it is an STI you have to buy it at my price.. so sure about your info....come down and test it.. and if you can do this just shut the --------..and keep you info to your self..

I think it's a bit off missleading people about a car like this, especially as he wants £6k for it!! You can get a decent WRX for £3.5k

The title says 1995 N PLATE SUBARU WRX STI in BLACK

Heading in the ad says A STUNNING SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI II FROM TAJ JAPANESE IMPORTS

Plus the last time it was on ebay there were similar questions to mine and he said it was an STI and they were wrong. I've also contacted him and he's told me twice it is an STI and I'm wrong. Plus he's answered the question above saying "you are not buying a wrx" when someone offered him wrx money.

Did you read my 1st post Pete

Hmmm, it does say 'STi Engine' on the listing, but I agree the rest is pretty vague about exactly what it is, and the title is misleading.

Also, would someone in Japan bother buying a WRX and then getting an STi engine fitted ? surely they'd just go and by an STi ? unless the engine was knackered from being thrashed, which makes you wonder what condition the gearbox, suspension etc... is in, or has the car had a heavy smack on the front which damaged the original engine ?

Tell him that if he's so sure 'it is an STi' that he can give the £6K to an independent third party to keep hold of until it can be decided for definite, then if he's wrong the third party can give it to you.

Bit weird though, if its being sold by this worldwide import business with offices in chile and japan, why is it photographed sitting outside a nasty looking Wimpey 2 bed semi ? Surely if they are such an esteemed import specialist, the car would have sold easily from their forecourt and wouldnt be on Ebay in the first place.

If you read his reply to me then you'll see he is selling it as an STI. There's nothing vague about it to me.

Ive asked him to tell me the engine code
He's allready put that up on an old add to 'shut people up' and guess what... it was a wrx code

I wish I could find the last post on scoobynet I made about this car, it had a link to the previous ebay ad. No search on here though! hmm, might be in my ebay..

I'm not saying it isn't an STi because I'm not an expert on classics, however it doesn't seem like a genuine advert beccuase it also states "No Modification on Engine" and yet is has an induction kit fitted and also has a sticker on the boot stating "Tuned by RAZO".

Vehicle details

Manufacturer - SUBARU
Model -
Body type -SALOON
Colour -BLACK
Fuel type -PETROL
Date manufactured -31 December 1995
Number of previous owners
Last owner change

Should that not need to have something in the box marked Model?
Or does it not matter?
I don't know much about cars, just wondering. By the way thats from RAC vehicle check thingy.

I own an STI version 2 MY96 and that car is not an STI!
Just from what i can see.....
No water spray Button.
Not STI interior, STI should have the logo on the seats.
No red stitching on gear ****.
Wrong Strut brace.
No tuned by STI sticker on pulley cover.
No red top manifold.
Not a silver intercooler.

Someone will be suckered in though i am sure of that!

Best thing to do is mail every bidder so that they get a chance to withdraw their bids if they wish.... or at least not bid again!!

Ive hpi checked that motor and its definitely a wrx,
and it seems a bit dodgy as said before, due to the tuned by badge and the dodgy mods, someone ought to mention this to ebay.
I would, but I'm off down the pub......

I emailed the highest bidder last time I saw it on ebay but didn't hear anything (so it was probably his alter ego winning the car anyway)
