The MAF is only damaged when aftermarket induction kits aren't bracketed properly. Primarily, it's the vibration caused by poor installation that leads to the sensor braking and the subsequent failure to address this that leads to serious mechanical failures. The HKS kit comes with an entirely suitable bracket.

Are detractors suggesting that anyone with a FMIC will blow their engine due to the NEED to fit an induction kit?

LOL, maybe the people who tell you what you don't want to hear have a point.

I went through 3 MAFs (1st one lasted couple of K miles) in a matter of months (one of which lasted 2-3days) using the HKS induction kit. It wasn't down to incorrect mounting that's for sure. The rumour about them destroying mafs is because many people have had the same problem, particularly with 98-00 carswhich imho the maf is almost guarenteed to fail on if fitted.

It does sound amazing though.

Said it before and i'll say it again

The induction kit fitted to my MY03 STi was removed when it was mapped. With the induction kit removed and replaced with a green cotton filter the intake temp went down by approx 14 degrees. The induction kit was affecting performance in a negative way.

the mushrom filter on its own is ok.
its when you change the tubing to the turbo it becomes a problem.(so ive heard from a tuner).if the car is mapped correctly its ok.i had just the mushroom filter on my 96 i did not have any problems .although i put a piper cross on later and i thought the performance was better.

They don't filter as well as other kits. Also, they are oiled which can damage the MAF.
The safest induction kit is the ones RCMS and GGR produce.

No, you are.

As far as you are concerned, forums are ****e because some posters flag up how inadequate you are.

For myself, forums become ****e because certain members cant string a coherent sentence together, and if by some miracle they do, it is usually so unutterably brain-dead that you have to crush your own teeth with mole-grips.

You are one of those, jock.
