So are the 06 STi's selling?
Went into the dealer at the weekend to have a sniff at the new 06 and was told that sales were not very good. Have people started to wise up to the fact that Subaru take the p1ss by releasing a new version every year which is killing residual values?

I kind of agree, I really like the new STi (especially the RA!!!) but would not consider buying one from new.
I'm gonna wait til september and have a gander at the demonstrator sale they always do...
And haven't seen a new one on the road yet...

Sti's selling
Went to my local dealership yesterday and they told me they've only sold one new one! Agree that people seem to be waiting to see how it performs with the ppp on! Had a drive of the sti before xmas and yes i enjoyed the drive but didn't convince me to buy!
My current sti is 2 years old with 18" alloys, ppp pack plus other bits, basically about £30,000 worth of car in the end. Had trade-in value of £16,000 which I think is pants but understand the market place! If I change, I would still want extras put on!
Would also go down the route of the spec c ra if I was to change! Awesome car!
I'll keep doing the lottery!!!

Until they get rid of the 05 Sti's I can't see them selling many - 05 sti's with PPP for anything between £22K and £24.5K - or an MY06 for £26K without PPP - no brainer really

I had a look in Litchfields last week. The new shape does look good in the flesh. Parallel importer near me has new shape wrx's for under 16k. Yet to see a new shape on the road.

Im one previous "buy new customer" from Subaru. I certainly will never buy another new one.
As an aside I think anyone who buys a new one for 25-30k is bonkers anyway. Theres so many good classic shapes out there for 10k that are just as fast

I dont think there'll be a queue of people after MY06's seeing as its pretty certain depreciation will be horriffic.
That leaves company car buyers, but the high emissions and very low MPG make them an expensive company car choice.
Then theres the fact the front end is the same as a Daeoo and chav-lights come as standard fit on the rear!

Have to agree, the reason i have gone away from buying another one is due to the awful depreciation new subaru's now take. 41% residual after 3 years if your lucky ! No thanks I think a SKODA residual is better. Besides I'm havinf loads more fun with over steer in my S than I ever had in my previous Scoobs

had a look at the 06 model whilst my 03sti ppp was in for a service. the dealer told me that "a brand new" model of the impreza was going to be sold as from next year - not just a facelift but a totally different car.
i think i,ll stick with my blob eye for the time being just to see what this new revelation looks like.

Subaru need to sort their act out, and stop constantly face-lifting and changing the spec of their cars. Potential buyers already have the chav-image and high running costs to put them off - adding monster depreciation to the mix doesnt help.

I picked up my MY06 WRX up from Litchfield's last week, having not seen a single one on the road previously. Have been driving around all week, and I've still not seen another...I was thinking as I drove home tonight - am I the only person who's got one!!??

Went to my local dealer today, who said sales were very good ( doubt that very much) .
I really liked the look of the new 06 in the flesh. Gonna have a run in a wrx and a sti in next week or so. I was quite suprised to be offered 12k for my 03 wrx against a new wrx or 13k against a sti and that was without any negotiating.
Personally I think the depreciation aint all that bad, I work for a bmw main dealer and we gave a guy 10k a couple of weeks ago for a 320i se with full leather 03 plate absolutely mint and he shelled out about 24k new.

I don't think they are going to sell well. Subaru have destroyed their own residuals as said above by bringing out new variants far too reguarly. I also think that the fuel economy issue is hurting them.

ive just had a letter from the dealership i bought MY05 Sti last september about buying a My06 and getting a good trade for mine (they still think ive got a 52 plate Wrx) now got talking to them on the phone the other day and they told me that subaru are dropping the price on the 05 shape Sti to around the 20k mark with 5 yrs intrest free credit so any1 thinking of tradeing there cars in atm dont be supprised to get offered a very low trade in price they offered me 17500 for a 55 plated Sti with ppp fitted

I looked at a new Impreza Wagon last May, 2005.
It was £12,500 + my Classic MY00 to buy new .......... free PPP was being offered too.
I didn't buy as I was unsure about the effects of the 'new' model.
Lets fast forward to May 2006, 1 year on, how much is the May 2005 Wagon worth now? £12,500?
That means that if I bought the same car now, ok a year old and with 10,000miles on .......... I would pay £12,5000 for it - whatever I got for my Classic MY00 is money I wouldn't have had Maybe £6000??? Thats £6000 BONUS!!
Buying NEW is for MUGS .......

I think Subaru have made big mistake with this model. Its a backward step. Haven't seen any at all on roads yet and dealer has one in for £19000. The flat four burble is gone, front end restyle is a disaster and softer suspension is ridiculous!! If I was after a softer ride I would have bought a Citroen Xantia or something

I had a leaflet from Haddocks in Colchester saying they had 05 STi's for £21,995. They seem to be having trouble shifting them. Presumably that makes a two year old STi worth about £14- £15k now?
