Default Urgent help please MY97 Turbo

Can people attempt to answer the following:

Should the header tank contain water and to what level when the engine is cool?

I have a leak in the coolant system and want to top it up but not overfill if that is possible.

I think the leak may be at the bottom left of the radiator if looking at the car stright on - is there a weak point there?

All advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

the header tank always looks full up. i wouldn't worry about over filling it.. you can see by the expansion tank.

Cant say I have heard of a weak spot in Scooby rads but as Graham said the header tank should be full...Look at the expansion tank for fill level...Subaru's are well known for having problems with header tanks and caps...Be sure you check that the system circulates ok if you change rad....

Had to replace the rad on my classic last month, it had a leak at the left side as well... ran with it for a week or so until I had time to fix it, had to keep topping it up through the header tank. I found just filling it up completely was fine (when cold), the expansion tank dealt with it...
