Default Wheels Looking a bit Tired Now ....

......... my standard silver alloys are looking a bit worse for wear, they are 6 years old and where the weights went they have tarnished.

I don't want gold, I dont want fancy ................... whats the price of a set of 4 standard alloys, from Subaru?

Anyone took any MY00 wheels off many years ago and have them lying about in the garage, long since forgotten??

Pete

Pete,

For a know-it-all I can't believe you let the people that fit your tyres put weights on the OUTSIDE of the rim!!!! Or is that not correct Subaru procedure?!?!

unless subaru have massively dropped their prices, you'll be able to buy an aftermarket set for the same/cheaper. saying that, it is an old design so it may be worth a call.

refurb is another way forward if you don't want to 'mod' your car

Yes, I know

When it was new I made them put the weights on the inside ....... the change of tyres comes around so infrequent that I forgot the last time!

Of course, everything is ok while they are in place .... it's when they rip them off and move round the rim that you spot the corrosion!

A warning to all who read this, do NOT allow weights on the outside of your alloys!!

The wheels aren't scuffed at all ..... just look 'used'

Correction,

you should have said, dont allow any clip on weights, they do put weight on the insides also!! and these are the onces that really corrode

OK, point taken ...... I thought the weights were inside instead of outside - didn't realise that they were inside AND outside??

How do they attach the weights then if not clip-on?

you wouldnt believe how strong it is. its like a foam, with double sided tape on both sides of it. there little lead weights. shouldn't affect the alloy as such. but is very very strong.
