Question Anyone had to replace a Spec C windscreen?

As above, due to some nasty truck flicking up a stone, my windscreen is broken and im just wondering if anyone has replaced their spec c windscreen with another lightweight screen, if so where was it sourced from (considering ive got cover on my insurance for windscreens) as i would like it replaced sooner rather than later

One of the reasons I went for the normal STi

I have now had two incidents, one stone on the motorway and the other a duck at 80mph! Had I gone for a Spec C I am sure I would be on my 3rd windscreen.

Have you tried the likes of HDC Subaru or such like breakers?

I cannot see anyone in the country stocking the lightweight screen as they will hardly ever sell.

Good luck anyway.

if your going to GRADE A, bear in mind he has a habit of nicking stuff off his wifes spec c to give to customers, looks like she'll be driving round without a windscreen for a while now then
Hope you get it sorted soon m8,
chris.

Got a crack in the screen of me brand new WRX due to a stone chip, i'd only had it two weeks. Strange, others have posted on hear concerning cracked screens, is Scooby glass extra fragile or something?
Sometimes i do a thousand miles a week in me company Focus so i've had plenty of stone strikes without so much of a scratch.

Sorry I know this doesn't help.

Hi Tony
What happened in the end with a replacement screen? I managed to get a 6" crack in the screen on my MY06 Spec C today I checked with Litchfield's and he said there the same as the UK model . Is yours an earlier model and do they indeed have thinner windscreens? I know the rest of the glass is lightweight/thinner etc?

Put a standard screen on it and be done with it.... Lets be honest it isnt going to make much difference. I wouldnt want to wait 6 weeks.....

No way I was going to wait 6 weeks for one. The problem will be if a side/rear one ever gets put through. Might be in for a wait then.

There are 3 different types of windscreen for Newage Impreza's, one is an RS spec windscreen, but subaru UK dont have any in stock, think thats the one i need.
These are lightweight and thinner than a normal screen before anyone says anything just by looking at the crack you can see how thin it acutally is but ill let you know how i go on trying to get one from the RAC windscreen services

Tony

As the screen are bonded to the car, are they interchangable? By that I mean will a standard "thick" screen fit in place of the thinner lightweight version originally fitted?

The terminal sizes are different, the spec c has smaller terminals that go onto the battery.

Ok, there is an outcome!
You can get these windscreens BUT..... 3-6 month waiting as there is no stock in japan AND they cost........ (according to the windscreen replacement guy who got a quote off IM) around 6-700 quid
Normal one will set you back about 100 quid!

Bosch do one, I have a larger one in mine (small terminals). Dark now, but I will have a look for the part number when I have a moment.
