Question STi 7 buying advice please...

My mate is going to look at a 2002 STi 7 at the weekend, is there anything in particular we should look out for?
The car in question has done 57000 miles and has no mods (yet )
Cheers
Steve

Service History and anything else you normally would when buying a car. Cam belt change is around that mileage, worthwhile checking whether it's been done.

Go and see if you like it by all means (check the service history etc), but before your mate parts with a Penny, two things are essential:

-HPI check
-Proper inspection by a professional mechanic who knows Scoobies!

Thats a highest mileage so check when it last had a service and if it due one soon then make sure the price reflects this. How much is it up for?

All of the above, and the obvious: -

Clutch judder, especially when cold. It will probably do this, but how bad is it?

Nocking, especially from the rear struts. Lots of other potential candidates for nocking noises (boot lid, jack) but this car was especially prone.

If it's a Type UK, then make sure that he can live with the VERY on /off nature of the Standard car (depending on how long it will stay standard). Do afew stop starts, and you'll see what I mean. In standard form it makes a pretty bad town car for this reason, and can be quite uncomfortable for passengers. My wife moaned like hell untill I had the PPP fitted.

Thanks for the replies, apparently the rear shocks/struts are being replaced as they are currently knocking.

It is a standard type UK, I'm not too sure on what mods he has planned yet but I'll pass on this info, how much is PPP for this model?

Prices over here (Ireland) are vastly different from the UK market, everything is more expensive. It's advertised at 25k euros but I reckon he should be able to pick it up for around 22k, still expensive in UK terms though.

Standard pads are also expensive, check to see how much beef is left on them.

Just the usual but I would get it inspected as said.
