i take iy you mean ask people on s/n if they have any knowledge/ info on a particular car you are interested in, imo it is completely appropriate as what you want is a true and honest history of any past owners etc and if the seller is genuine and the car is as described then he/she should not have a problem with you conducting yor own research,

thanks for that, i will make sure he is serious before asking.

i think i will recomend going through allapproved or subaru approved sites which i hope will throw up some decent one owner cars and then he can ring the previous owners up.
