Post WRX or STi Scoop?

Hi Guys.

I currently own a 02 WRX and want to fit an STi bonnet scoop as its looks bigger and better than mine. Would there be any benefits such as more power as I'm letting more cold air onto the intercooler or will the bigger scoop act as wind scoop and catch all the air and slow me down?

Short answer....both
Simple physics, more drag therefore slow you down although i believe this is a marignal factor
Bigger scoop gets more cold air onto that intercooler
Personally i'd say go for it, I've got a bug STI and IMO the scoop services the I/C better than a wrx one would, and again i like its aesthetics

Glad you said that as I really want one just didn't want to be put off. I've just fitted STi fog lamp covers too so thats all got to help with aerodynamics. The hard to get hold of but JDM are meant to do a good scoop. Subaru would probably charge an arm and a leg. I'll have to find out. Cheers

Got a price today from subaru and it was £295 + VAT. What a rip off. Where did you get that price?

Post an add in the wanted section, thats what i did and picked one up for £90 all in.
The larger opening has to = more air flow and better i/c cooling, you might want to think about the larger under tray as well.

I have a 02 sti scoop in wr blue in my garage if you are after one, i put a sti8 (dr motorsport) on mine and having spoken to my mate who works for prodrive he agrees with the opinions on here in terms of it allowing more air in etc, i just prefered the sti 8 one on my sti. I changed the spoiler for a high level sti 8 one and so did the scoop also. let me know if you are interested, if not it can collect a bit more dust...:-)

Will it still fit without another under tray?

Did just that and got one for £80 in the right colour today. What a difference it makes to the look of the car. Standard one is so small. I did'nt get the undertray as I'm probably not going to change the intercooler. Would changing my intercooler make any difference in power. Say an STi one if it fits.

I put STI intercooler on my WRX and difference was noticeable. Boost gauge read slightly higher due to colder denser air I expect. If u r thinkin of tuning mods later better i/c is essential anyway.

Was it an easy mod. Any modification or just a straight bolt on?
