In what respect, *****-out performance or a quick off the line sprint?

In both respects an M3 will munch it, if driven by someone that can actually drive one that is!

Simon my other half! Has an M3...... (as well as his scoob the posh git) with launch control on the SMG gbox.

VERY QUICK motors!

Regards,
Shaun.

If you have a rolling start the M3 will win, off the lights I would think the Scoob wouldhave the edge, I have raced an M3 GT off the lights in my old Pulsar and I thrashed it.

Default ppp at the start

your impreza should win to sixty everday of the week, went to trax this year there was an m3 conv there and he could not get under 5.8 secs, you should be able to crack under the 5's in the impreza, at the ton though he might have you

Ill soon tell you, my mates getting an M3 coupe this week and he says its fast but hes not the best driver out there.

my Sti isnt far off his bhp figures but my torque is about 65 more so that might make a diff.....i hope.

ill take it round the twisties tho, straight lines are cheating, anyone can do that!

opinions (mainly biast for one reason or another)are a waste of time(although interesting) on threads like this, it would be more informative for facts and figures to be posted or live experiences shared in order that we can all get an understanding of which may be quicker. i can talk ****e sometimes. ha ha

I'm not biased.... I run this site and still say an M3 is quicker (in the right hands)!

Shaun.

what he said, i have a 270\270 classic wagon and love my car but M3's (esp E46's), are damn quick and a well driven one will really fly.

An M3 convertible needs to be quick so no-one can see you looking like a total w@nker.

The M3 conv is quite a bit heavier than the saloon so it loses out
there.
they also need to be revved to make them work, my mate owns
one and i was very dissapointed, it used to be one of my dream cars

Havin took an M3 conv 53 plate on couple of weeks ago I can say that STI PPP wins. This was from coming off roundabout, then up approx mile of road with another roundabout 1/4 mile up it. My STI had him couple of car lengths up to second roundabout on which he couldnt match the scoobs handling. Hence I came off roundabout bit faster and horsed it up the straight leaving him in my mirror. This is second one that has been seen off since I got car in October.

I've chased two M3's now both fairly new about 52 reg, neither could get away from my MY93 WRX up to about 70, after which there were junctions in the way again! Apparently the M3 is quicker from 70-100, with a quicker 1/4 mile as standard to the Impreza.

Default facts!!!!!

january 2006 redline test results.......................

bmw M3 e46 con V subaru impreza wrx94 import Actual times datron timing so no bo@@cks!!!!
0-60 bmw 5.37 wrx 5.80
0-100 bmw13.33 wrx 14.91
100-0 bmw4.48 wrx 5.48
0-100-0 bmw18.58 wrx 21.1

these are test results for a 53 plate m3 e46 against a 94 wrx with probably near 100k miles up it.imagine what a chip would do for the times.this should put a rest to this argument that the scooby should really be first past the post when talking a 53 plate sti
