I had a little 'play' with a Supra TT that a friend of mine owns. I've got a 1994 WRX with de-cat centre, back box, induction kit and uprated fuel pump so probably similar power to yours. His is a manual TT with stainless exhaust and blitz induction kit.

It was only a quick blast up a (cough)private dual carriageway from 30mph (2nd) up to ***mph. There was never any doubt that he was going to beat me, but I just wanted to see how I would fair. He was still pulling away from me when we got in excess of three figures. I've been out in it a few times and they are awesome cars!!

I think that you'll struggle to keep up with him, let alone beat him!

That's all you can do is pray for rain.

A friend had a auto TT supra and in the dry from a standing start you'd have to be very brutal at launching to stay with him.

supra will win but not by a huge amount,i'd guess at 10 car lengths or 40/50 metres over a full mile.
get rid of any excess weight before ya run that might help a bit!!!!

Take the cars to Santa Pod, you will have a better chance.

I've seen a 500-600bhp auto supra get constent 14 sec at the pod, which is ****e, for a car with that sort of power, but because it was automatic and the fact it couldnt get traction because of the power meant it kept getting crap times.

supras are 330 standard i think or there about, like other they are quick but not from a standing start

i got passed from one doing in excess of 170, and it was still pulling, so take him to a proper drag strip, launch hard....and you should win, specially at this time of year

i test drove a m8 TT auto one as i was gona buy it only if i could fit the kids in it, but it had twin hybrids and some other stuff but i gave it a quick blast down the dual, yeah on pull of it was a bit slowish but as soon as those TT cuts in it is fackin awsome i was in 3 digit numbers within seconds, im still smiling now, but imo i dont think u stand a chance m8 but theres no harm in trying.

Hello all, I'm the friend Renton posted about. Rent told me he'd posted on here so thought I'd say hello - I'm a regular on mkivsupra.net. Nice club over here BTW !

As I'm totally standard I've been holding out on racing with Renton until I get my decat done as that should transform my car. Only trouble is we can't wait to find out! Gonna race before and after the Decat I reckon now!

TBH I was worried about traction this time of year and thought I'd have trouble keeping up until about 40 - 50mph. But my advantage should be the rolling start and the mile long straight road.

We'll let you know how we get on!

Few pics of my car BTW..... (much better looking than Scoobys don't ya think? )

Once went toe to toe with a Supra, I was in my STi V standard 276bhp (213bhp per tonne?). Off a r/bout he caught me off guard by flooring it, I followed suit however I was a couple of car lengths behind by then. Steadily caught him up to about 100mph where we both backed off ...

A Supra is a heavy beast so can't be that good on bhp per tonne, can it?

Very true, I can't compete with a Scooby on the corners either.

Not sure what the bhp is per tonne. Standard TT is around 330bhp although my cars 11 years old so prob around 300bhp now. With a straight through exhaust you can easily acheive an extra 50bhp, I'm decat-in at the end of the month - so i can't wait!

Have you tried the insurance on one yet!

I did a insurance quote on a UK spec Twin Turbo on Confuse.com which are not the cheapest of places, me being 22 at the time, and it was £100 cheaper then my 04 Uk spec WRX and £300 cheaper then what I paid on my Turbo 2000.

Quick Reply: will i beat a supra turbo auto???
