i have a 95 wrx(import) was told it was pinking when i had problem with the car losing boost took it to another garage they checked the plugs and coils which they said stopped the pinking but boost still low around 8 psi was told it was three port solenoid causing this but i think i can still here pinking when in 4th and 5th gear when turbo kicks in what would u recommended to do do u think garage is right looking for anyone with similiar experience was thinking about fitting iridium plugs and new coils i run optimax fuel any advice please the garage cleaned out the solenoid fixed boost for couple of days but back to normal when it is boosting properly the boost goes to around 20 psi in 4th and 5th need advice this problem has been going on for while help please

 

20 PSi is a few clicks above std boost. First port of call is to find out what has been done to raise the boost.
My car (uk 99) has a 3 port but has been mapped to use it and is fine.
I suggest you find a gararge who knows what they're doing. I'm guessing the gararge you refer to ain't a specialist?

 

the garage know what they are doing they have built and raced subarus they say that my three port solenoid is not working proparly so need new one as the pinking comes and goes think it might be the coils was thinking of going to heat range 8 for my plug i am using 7s the now anyone ever had problems with pinking(knocking

 

the garage says the three port on 98 99s uk is different from my 95 import
