Default Warranty info from Liaco Ltd Malta

This might be of some interest for anyone whose car was sourced thro Liaco Ltd Malta especially the bit about servicing intervals. This was the content of an email I got from Liaco Ltd back in Jan 2005.

" We are very pleased to hear about your satisfaction with your new Impreza and your purchasing experience.

We understand that you are capable of servicing the vehicle yourself. Whilst we recommend that the car is preferably serviced at an Authorised Subaru Repairer, it is possible, without jeopardising your Subaru warranty (As per explained on page 9 in your "Warranty & Service Booklet"), to have the periodic maintenance performed by a non authorised (competent) repairer.

But please bear in mind that in such cases complications might occur should certain warranty claim arise; such as the possibility of damage that could have been noted, prevented and corrected at a particular service interval or for example damage caused by improper or wrong maintenance which in such situations will not be covered by warranty.

If you go this route and decide to service the car yourself we will require the following: (After 7 days of actual service)
1) Copy of the invoice which lists the purchased parts that needed to be replaced for that particular service.
2) Copy of "Warranty & Service Booklet" pages 04, 16-33 (Updated where necessary as per informed on same booklet - page 9).

Please also note that the required Annual Body Inspections must still be carried out by a Subaru Authorised Repairer.

It is worth noting that the above conditions have been set by Subaru Japan who are responsible for warranty claims.

In the event that the vehicle needs warranty works performed you will need to go to your nearest Authorised Subaru Repairer who will guide you with the process. In such case they will not charge you for the repairs.

For your reference:

In order to maintain a valid warranty you must follow the guidelines set in our Warranty & Service booklet. You will notice that the booklet indicates shorter service intervals because it takes into account the Maltese geographic region & climate with typical short trips, which is why the booklet suggests earlier service intervals. However it is worth noting that only the grey shaded slots are mandatory (IE: Service 1,3,5,7 etc..), whereas the NON-Shaded are optional/required depending on the car's usage (E.g.: If you use your car under severe conditions).

Under normal driving and road conditions in the UK you will be just fine to service the car at least every year or every 9,500/10,000 miles which ever occurs first. "
