Getting a Type'r' Remapped
I live in Plymouth and the friendly people at shell have now closed down all 3 shell garages meaning i will have to do a 40 mile round trip to get optimax....
So my question is this.......
Can i get my car remapped to take uk fuel and if so what are peoples thoughts on this????? I know that you can get octane boost but i have a friend that has an evo4 that used octane boost an it screwed his engine...... (A rally driver that knows a bit about this stuff)
Other than that my other option would be to sell the Type'r' (which i've only had for 4 months!!!) and but a new age STi (PPP'd).......
Love to have your thoughts.

My STi5 loved millers octaine boost, I had a knock sensor and you could tell the difference, loads cheaper than a remap at about £3 a bottle, one bottle per tank of fuel. Your mates evo could have blown up for many reasons !!
*Enhances performance by increasing octane values typically by 1.6.
* Reduces pinking and possibility of pre-ignition and detonation by controlling the flame front [manner in which the fuel burns].
* Improves fuel consumption and gives smoother running.
* 95 premium unleaded becomes equivalent of 97 super plus unleaded.
* 97 super plus unleaded typically increases to 99 octane.
* Reduces emissions of nitrogen oxides [NOx] and Carbon Monoxide [CO].

A remap is the right way to go. Saves hassle, means your car is porperly configured to run on UK fuel, greater safety margin and possibly a bit more poke too. OB is only really a "temporary fix it"!
Do choose your engine mapper with care though. If you're quick Powerstation are offering remaps and a free 3 port boost solenoid for 499+vat.
