Whats the Optimum RPM gearchange??

Take the car to a good Rolling Road (ie Powerstation) and have a power run done (about £50)
The graph will give you a plot of the torque curve. From that you will see where the peak is.
A gearchange is about 1000/1500 rpm, so you change gear at about 800 rpm before the torque falls away, about 6500/7000 in my Sti V3, and when the next gear is up you will be right in the full torque band to do it all over again.
for a killer start though you need to be brutal, 5500/6000 and dump the clutch 9in the dry) Do NOT do this on traffic lights with high grip surface!
