Question

Sorry if this is not the place....but.....I would be interested to know who people would now vote for in light of the last couple of months of Labour's inability to read or pacify public concerns - esp over fuel tax.
Reply with Labour or Conservative & the results will be published on Friday.
Will this be biased considering we are all driving enthusiasts ? I hope not.

I'm not ashamed to admit being a Conservative voter.

Can't stand the socialist ethos of the lazy getting all my hard earned dosh. Not that the present Labour have any socialist left in them (read Tories Lite ). However, even the Tories might take us into Europe. Then the UK Indepedence party will get my vote. At the moment though, all I care about is getting these anti motorist scumbags out...

I voted for Tony because the Tories had become a bunch of smug, arrogant tw*ts.

Now Labour have become a bunch of smug, etc. Everything they want to do will make my life more difficult. Transport and car ownership are the major issues for me. I really thought they were going to improve public transport and put some money into it. But it has got worse, and motoring has got more restrictive and expensive.

Plus there is a whole host of broken election promises (rights to roam, freedom of information - good social policies)

Now their arrogant assumption that the fuel blockades we supported only by a nasty little minority. The Transport and general workers unions ACTUALLY PERSUADING its members to return to work!

And God help me I voted for them.

Not again, no way, ever

Regulation of Investigatory Powers Bill

Police to keep speeding fine revenue thereby becoming profit centres.

Get them out while we still can.

Yeah I 2nd that Miles!

Don't get me revved up on this issue.

You just try running a business under a Labour Government and then tell me Tony is nice bloke. Tossers!

Success should be encouraged and rewarded, not scoffed at and taken away by ridiculous taxation.

Oh bugger, i've started .................. thisnk calm oceans & dolphins ........

No, this thread seems likes a *good* idea - Someone somewhere might take some notice and make driving a Scoob (or anything else I suppose) less stressful instead of more.

Labour have their problems, but at least they don't just go for oppurtunistic politics like the Tories. Three pence off fuel tax? Virtually no difference to most of us, just posturing and trying to get votes. The Tories only recently stated that they were for high fuel taxation.

It just seems that the Tories make policy based on popularity, and not on sound economics.

As for Europe, the Tory stance on that is just as blinkered as Labours, but in the opposite direction!

Agree with Miles. I can see this thread getting extremely out of hand.

Political standing arguments. They always end in tears.

I think I'll stand as an independent.
My policies are:

No speed cameras.
No licensing laws.
Driving of "maxed" Novas punishable by death.
Chris Evans declared "illegal".
Free weekly supplies of beer & curry, subsidised by massive taxation of tee-total vegetarians.

These are my immediate priorities. If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know, and I'll see what I can do when I'm elected.

Got to stop these liquid lunches...

Personally I think the government should increase revenue by taxing all foreigners living abroad!

They should then be taken out to sea to prove whether they can walk on water, as they seem to beleive they can!

Doesn't seem any point in voting at all. There all as bad as each other and don't appreciate the needs of the real people anyway.

Lies, broken promises, scandal, hypocrisy - all in a days work for an MP.

Still, could be worse, you could be living in Yugoslavia and have a free right to vote for whoever you wish............the result however will depend on the rulings of a mad man whose pension plan hasn't performed as well as expected and wants to work for a couple more years yet.

The point is that we do atleast have the right to free speech and to make up our own minds on the issues of the day. I do not believe that the BBS should become a political soapbox though, regardless of the strength of thought for one party or the other.

People should make up their minds based on the complete package from both parties and not one or two hot issues.

So endeth the sermon

Just to qualify your statement Shark, I'm sure you meant "No speed limits for Scooby drivers".

Everyone else can't drive, and them koni toting Cavaliers need to have speed limits to reel them in from Warp factor 10!

Doing things to get votes is fine! - The government should be doing its best to represent the interest of the population, not what seemed good propaganda at the time they were trying to get elected.

Saving things up by irritating people imensely and then giving out a few 'sweeties' just before elections is what bugs me

At least with our own government we get to kick them all out every few years when they come to the limits of our endurance, but the European Parliment & Brussels Aaaaaaagh... OK I won't start

I don't think any party at the moment is good enough to get my vote.

I work in the mining idustry and had to listen to the Government announce a 100 million pound subsidy for the pits. They forgot to mention they had taken 2000 million pounds out of our pension scheme in the last 4 years.

Cheers

I'll vote for David ( Shark) if he can sort out my dodgy clutch tomorrow.

If the vote comes down to Blair or Hague i'll not bother voting. Both a bunch of lying gits.

Put them in a ring and let them sort it out like real men..well it would be good for laugh..handbags at 20 paces.

Spot on if labour gets in again then small businesses are in the deep stuff. Employers (such as myself) get hammered by there socialist crap! If they get in again I will not be able to afford my Scooby, I will look at emigrating along with loads of other hardworking British people, who have already gone!

Just one question....

WHY does the government NEED all this extra money??????

Haven't we been ticking along for years with what they tax us now? Why do they need BILLIONS more all of a sudden??

Anyone care to speculate?

Exclamation

I was kind of hoping the extra revenue would go toward bringing the standard of our roads into the 20th century.
Failing this, I hoped the funds would be used to improve the health service, better schooling for ALL our children, give the elderly some warmth in winter.
I should be in America coz this is a dream.

Charles

I too am a employer of people and a runner of business. The only way to enjoy the fruits of my labour is too post money into an off shore fund and live away for a few years, something I swore I would never do, but this government have made it thus.

I have always voted Torie in the past, had my doubts pre elecetion last time around, but I'll never doubt again
