Default shims

can anyone tell me what brake shims look like. i gather they sit with the pads and stop the brakes squeeking. i fitted some tarox pads and didnt put anything else in and my brakes squeel really badly so i think i must have missed something. If i have lost my shims can i buy new ones from anywhere? main dealer maybe? car is my99uk turbo. cheers leon

Thin bits of stainless steel the same shape and size as the back of the brake pad sitting between the back of the pad and the caliper/piston, mines a new age but presume the same, so should be 2 shims on the back of each pad, one is solid, one has slots in it.. AFAIK you only get them with the OE brake pads don't think they are available on their own.. try some copperslip on the back of the pads that may do the trick..
