Default is my clutch going?

just wondering if anyone can help with my clutch problem. when im driving normally the clutch is fine no slipping or anything even when pushed hard, the problem is when i sit still with the engine running for a bit. Last night i was sat in traffic waiting to get on the motorway just creeping forward every few minutes or so but after about 10 minutes my pedal went really wierd like an elastic band. It just felt really springy and the car jolted every time i set off. When the traffic cleared i put my foot down in third on slip road but it just slipped then same in fourth! Thing is after a couple of minutes driving all went back to normal, pedal feel and everything. The same thing happened a couple of hours later in a drive - thru when i was sat waitin for 5 mins.
Can anyone shed some light please on whats happening?
cheers

Not an expert on clutches but...

In this slow moving traffic are you riding the clutch? Sounds to me like it's simply getting too hot. I generally associating slipping with a clutch on it's last legs however, so I think it only sensible to assume that you'll be needing a replacement soon.

if its a hydraulic clutch, you may have boiled the fluid or it needing a fluid change...

try this first, its cheaper!!
