Subarus Are Not Selling!
Just seen that Subaru are offering Free Servicing for 3 years AND 0% Finance on every single one of their cars!
I remember a friend buying a Subaru Impreza Turbo way back in 1993 ..... I also remember that Subaru offered him Free Servicing and 0% Finance.
In the years between then and now, Subarus have sold well ...... it seems that they are struggling once again.
Clearly, the Impreza looks very expensive now - sat alongside the able competition.
Will Subaru slip back into being a car only driven by farmers and the country folk?

Now geed orf ma land!!
Serious answer, I don't know that it's an expensive car per se, when you compare it to something like the Golf R32. I think its just a much more competitive market out there now, and Subaru are going to have to make an effort to get the punters rolling in.
NS04
i think it's to combat the EU imports. new 2.5 litre WRX from motorpoint £16,995.
when the warranty issue is sorted out (i can't see subaru UK will get away with it for long), the uk prices will look very high (as they are)

Competition is too tough for Subaru I think - I hate VWs, but the trim quality of the Golf mentioned above puts the Subarus to shame. Look at a Honda Accord interior and then a Legacy ....... enough said.
Subaru need to get a quality 'feel' into their cockpits - they have the reliability and performance ..... now, quality trim please!!

Just a theory, but the people who buy brand new WRXs and STIs are going to generally be at least 25 (more like 30+) and many will have young families. The Chav image and Subaru is pretty much established now unfortunately.
These types will not want to associate themselves with that image and hence may look more favourably on the competition.....

These cars just dont sell as well as they did ...the strength of intrest isnt there.( who in the everday world needs 4wd)....Over the last few years there have been no end of cars with similar performance on offer at a similar price point.
to qualify for the 0% finance do you not have to put 40% down?
i think subaru have been resting on there lorals over the past couple of years.....everyone else has raised the game and i think subaru have sat back and not up'ed the anti enough.
for less money theres some very exciting cars on the market at the minute

I think the 'I want to be a rally driver' thing is getting a bit stale
all said from someone who loves Subarus
1. Subaru has never sold a car because the interior was nice.
2. Until the turbo impreza arrived, only country folk bought them.
3. With the exception of turbo imprezas it is probably still only country folk who buy them.
4. Who would buy anything as ugly as the latest impreza (by far the ugliest front end so far) unless:
a. They were good value for performance (which I believe they are).
b. They are reliable and tough.
c. Aftermarket care is good (In my experience it is).
d. They are fantastic at covering distances quickly on country roads.
I believe there are are only so many people who can put up with the looks but still feel happy about the car. Subaru have probably saturated that market. Perhaps it would be a good thing if they cut down their impreza export numbers to the uk to the levels of the legacy (probably owned mosty by country folk).
Also, I hate driving my car in the town. So, if I lived in a city, the last car I would have would be a subaru.

Good idea mate.
I dont think a diesel impreza is the answer. If i wanted a diesel i certainly wouldnt look at a subaru. I like my scoob cause its good to drive and is fast, its a fun car but i put up with its slightly cheap looking interior and general cheaper build quality( compared to german cars). If i was in the market for a boring diesel then i would want to make sure it had the best quality and as much toys as possible to make up for the tractor characteristics. Ive had german diesels before and there is no way a diesel scoob would win sales over these alternatives. What sells imprezas is the rally heritage and the fun factor at relatively low cost.
