One of the scariest moments in my car
Well I was quite happily driving home on the A1 last night in traffic doing about 70mph when all of a sudden the steering wheel yanks to the left, pulling me towards the car in the lane next to me. Well I $hat myself as you can imagine!! I manage to pull over on the hard shoulder (narrowly avoiding traffic) & discover this had happened to my nearside front tyre:

To be honest if it was a rear I might not have noticed it as much but as it was a front it pulled like a b*stard to the left.
There was still a lot of smoke when I stopped

The rest of the tyre is hardly worn, so I would suggest you spend less money adding shiney bits and less time painting things under the bonnet and spend more time and money on some good rubber!

Right so in your opinion the more money you spend on a tyre actually equates to it being better?
I've run pretty much every tyre under the sun and IMHO these are the best of the lot. I've run SO2's, Eagle F1's, T1-S's and for the combination of tread wear v's wet & dry grip i've not come across better.
However i'm sure you all have your opinion on "which tyre is best" and because i'm not following everyone else like a sheep to the Eagle F1's i'm automatically wrong. Not much point in me saying that I thought they were cr@p then really

Yes I probably hit something when my tyre was still cold. Only made it 3 miles or so from the office. Went down very quickly. The tyre has been on there for probably 8-9 months or so without any bother.

Shoulders of the tyre (on what's left of the good bits) do look very rounded, suggest you stop chucking it through tight bends or round islands and bump up the tyres pressures a bit more. Unless you've been driving round on a under inflated tyre for a few months 
Oh, and with tyres, usually more money=better tyres...from a trade price point of view (RRP can be stupid with tyres). Especially with wet weather grip, cheapies are absolute death traps in the wet.
But this failure doesn't look like a quality issue to me, as it looks like wear/pressure/driving style related.

Who says that this brand has had more failures than any other tyre? It's quite possible that Goodyear/Toyo/Pirelli have more failures than this brand - and maybe not.
It's great when the SN experts come along
FWIW i've had two tyre failures/blowouts in 10 years and they were both Goodyear. I've ran loads of different tyres in my time ranging from the cheapest to the most expensive.
