STI V.2 or V.3?
I've had aScoob for only 2 months now and bought it thinking it was a version 2. I'd just like to confirm this!
How would I tell which version it is, bearing in mind it's all japanese under the bonnet! Would I need to look at the car or could I tell fro my V5c or MOT certificate????
Any help would be grateful!!!!!!

Is it just me or are the model codes actually a bit useless really??
For instance;
GC8B48D 240 WRX 4 door
GC8B48D 250 WRX STi 4 door
So if you have this model code do you have a WRX or an STI???
For instance;
GC8B48D 240 WRX 4 door
GC8B48D 250 WRX STi 4 door
So if you have this model code do you have a WRX or an STI???

The reason for the above, was that the cars were alterred production vehicles as were the STI Type-RAs available in 1995. STI2s onwards were built as such and have a corresponding AMN.

The first STIs were a limited production run. The cars were retro-converted from already built production WRXs; this is why they have normal Applied Model Numbers. The same was true for the STI Type-RAs converted in 1995, from already built RAs. Both of these models sold so well that Subaru decided to make the STI part of their model line-up and it was built as a dedicated model with its own AMN from the C2 (MY96) series model onwards.

Cheers for the info guys you have just confirmed my suspicions about a friends Scooby which he was under the impression is an STI.
It's a 94 and I'd asked him a couple of questions about it and didn't sound right to me, I saw it for the first time at the weekend and it has the same seats as my 93 WRX, no STI plate in engine bay or anywhere else and no red top engine, although I don't know if they had that on the early ones.
Still, he's really happy with it anyway so what the hell, at least he didn't pay extra for it being a supposed STI, in fact it was a bloody bargain, jammy git!
