Default Online mapping forums/communities?

With an apexi PFC coming soon and lots to learn I was wondering if anyone knows of any decent online communities/forums/information resources that would be useful to be specifically if they are related to either the PFC or scoobs?

Sure there will be quite a few people on here who do their own mapping so if there isn't a suitable place at the moment perhaps it'd make sense to set up a forum for this kind of thing?

Anyone care to comment?

Cheers
Jim

I don't do my own mapping but as someone who has been remapped I would find it an interesting subject to read.

Good idea

I assume that you are aware, that the PFC out of the box will probably damage your car as soon as the boost ramps up? (assuming its for an Impreza; I dont know what the craic is with other models...)

Simon the apexi power fc for the 97-98 JDM impreza is mapped pretty well. on my sti 3 jolly green monster (simon) said apart from the fuelling being 12% out, the map was okay to run the car.

It's actually for my Legacy.

Seeing as I was driving the car (JDM RS) on its original map for quite some time with no issues (and the apexi claims to have a replica of the JDM map for the model it's aimed for) I'm less concerned than some may be about this issues although I am well aware of the potential risk yes.

I've got a knocklink and afr and will be restricting my boost a lot to begin with until I get the ignition map amended satisfactorily. Am also trying to get hold of a wideband, funds permitting....

I ran my Power FC on my 1995 WRX for some months before getting mapped obviously on low boost with no problems.

I've been planning a dedicated forum for some time (with somebody else). Time constraints have meant the project has not got of the ground.

I've got the server space and bandwidth, along with a suitable domain name for it all. It will just require the installation of a suitable forum.

That would be brilliant Jon/Dee (It's Jim from UKLegacy in case you're wondering!). The invision board one I use is pretty good although I have little experience of any other kind, and despite running mine for just past a year now I probably only know a fraction of what it does but have found it relatively easy to find things out as I go along.

I'd offer to help with the forum but I have to confess that my host very kindly installed & setup the basic forum for me although I've modified it since then.

I have to admit that I am genuinely surprised. I'm trying to remember who told me this now..........

The vbulletin board (like this one) is great and may be the best option. The phpbb and postnuke based forums are alway full of security holes and although it is value for money (free) it's too much hassle to begin making modifications to it, which come as standard in the vbulletin board, then having to do all that work again when a security update comes along (approximately every month - feels like it anyway).

If it's any use to anyone I have set up a separate section for ECUs & mapping in my Legacy forum here: http://legacy.manxforums.com/forums/...p?showforum=22

As we were then..... Ive remembered who told me (an established and respected mapper), and I stand by my original remark: that an out-of-the-box PFC shouldnt be fitted to an Impreza.
