Default Too many Scooby haters on this site!

I'm pretty annoyed with this website (I thought it was for enthusiasts) instead it turns out to be full of traffic light heros!

The reason I'm annoyed is I have a Bugeye, and anyone would think that I've gone and bought a Lada or Proton, according to what appears to be the majority view on this site, my car is:

Slow ("a warmed up saloon car")

Heavy ("lard ****")

Poorly put together

Unreliable

Expensive

Thirsty

Can't brake

Can't go round corners

Oh my god what have I done buying this piece of rubbish!

I have to say that I've come to Subarus fairly late (I'm 37 and been driving for 20 years), pretty much every car I've owned has been a bog standard family type car (which I think gives me a pretty good perspective). I've had my car for about 9 months now and I think it is absolutely fantastic, I real drivers car, sure it's no Aston Martin, but I can't afford one of those anyway!

Why are there so many people on here that so dislike these cars?

It's a question thats been asked and answered many times mate. There is a reason that the Scooby has its share of detractors: it has a deserved reputation for being fast and has become a kind of benchmark. Thus people will always want to test their "metal" against it.

When people get this precious about performance (whatever car they drive) there's just no point in arguing. The important thing is that you like what you've got! Just enjoy it and nevermind some of the utter bo**ocks that gets uttered on here about them not being fast etc...

Dont take it all too seriously.....Once you've been on here a while and read the same Scooby V M3 / what should I buy STi or WRX / how many miles do you get from a tank threads a 100 times you tend to get a sense of humour and start taking things a little less seriously.

The new age wrx and bug eyes always get a slating more from a mickey taking side of things than anything, its all good fun.

Hey I get it worse than most because I drive a piece of 15 year old french clutter. The best thing to do is sit back and take it then in the Winter when its cold and wet take your car to a track day loaded up with scoobs and kick their **** all over the place thats what I do anyway........

Says a man who stuffed his last scoob ,..........

Besides the pug got home from Bedford under its own steam. It did have a bank detour on the way but nothing more than a scuffed front grill

Dont you just love cold wet February track days and the wet twisties

I would agree with this Martin, and I, too, find it quite comical that it is a website for Scooby owners/enthusiasts, but still gets visited by so many who actually appear to despise the Scoob.

I mean, you accept that you are going to get the odd troll on here, and, as the above poster says, we probably get far more on here than our fair-share, but some of those constantly posting derogatory comments on here have in excess of 4000 posts etc.

As such, I find it quite sad that they obviously feel the need to over-frequent this site purely to wind people up.

Never has the well-used phrase "Get a life" been more pertinent.

I Agree, far too much slating going on, get enough of that from other marque car clubs with their green eyed envy! At least us bug eye owners know the score! People generalise and when it comes to the impreza their is far too much variety with stock products, i.e. WRX, STI, Prodrive, JDM etc. without even diving into the realm of aftermarket tuning! Take it on the chin, you know your cars capabilities and you bought the car because you liked it as did I

I agree, I can't take this constant trolling and slating anymore...I finally have to give in and agree that my car is crap.

There's only one thing for it, I'm going to trade in my bag-of-**** bugeye WRX, with 260bhp, 347Nm torque, decat catback exhaust and GREEN panel filter, Eibach Pro springs, 18" gunmetal Rota GRA wheels.

Just look at it, who the f*ck would want this?

I've found a much nicer car that all you trolls are probably driving, something that'll p1ss all over this car, both in a straight line and round wet twisties.

Thanks for waking me up to the fact my car is boll0x. What do you think of my new drive, a significant improvement IMHO? Can I come to your next meet?

Those comments about the 'bugeye' being slow are only brought up when a question relating to the never ending 'i raced this,he beat me' blah blah stories come up. I have never seen a thread put up saying 'bugeyes are slow & sh*t' because there not, 0-60-6secs??hmmm thats fast in my eyes. its only when someone ask why they were raced by a Type R,cupra,182 etc...is when the comments start flying.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. First thing's first, I need a 6" tailpipe trim over the top of the standard exhaust. I also need an ex-cossie whale-tail spoiler on the back.

It's all about investment.

If I spend £500 modding my Metro/Nova/Corsa/Escort/Astra/Modeo/"Cav", it'll be worth 3 times the amount I paid for it. See, I'm smart me.

Oh man, that made me laugh, nice one

There are probably many cars that can keep up with or beat a scoob but as far as I'm concerned I'm in the car I've wanted for years and at the moment I wouldn't want to be in anything else.

Why are there scooby haters???...........

Some just wish they had a scooby so its obvious.

I have just got rid of my scooby after only 6 months ownership, the reasons are the usual.....

After a while the performance is only great when booting the car, fuel consumption is crap, its interior is shocking (even the 06 model) and if I'm honest the car isn't all its cracked up to be.

Rewind the clock 10 years and it may be dogs ***** but not now.

Too much else to choose from........get a decent second hand M3 or M5, performance to match a scooby but with some class and style

If you don't care about whether or not you have 4 wheel drive then yes, perhaps you shouldn't be looking at this type of car.

If you appreciate what it is you are buying however - accept no substitutes (apart from perhaps the obvious Evo).

Cool

Hi guys and gals, I'm a non scooby owner but I have a lot of respect for them- their ability to reel in cars on the exit of corners is awesome, especially in the wet is damn impressive, the sound is heavenly and I'm a particular fan of the classic's looks

I own a pug 306 XSi that only has about 140bhp, yet I defy anyone to find something that is as fun on a circuit, especially for the cost. I realise there are a lot of cars that will go past like I'm standing still, but bugger me do I have fun when I can give it some stick!

That's what being a car enthusiast is all about- enjoying driving. Who gives a toss if I get whooped by a gti6, who gets whooped by an STi, who gets done by a porsche and out front there is a humble mk3 golf lapping us all, if we're all having the time of our lives!!!

There seem to be an awful lot of sound people on this forum, so hoping to spend some time chatting to you in the future
