Default Twin headlights on classic question?

Does anyone know how the lights erm.... work?

Which light comes on with dip beam, high beam, etc.

At the mo, high beam doesnt seem that better than dip because both lights dont come on together, it swaps from outside light (dip) to inside light (high).

Is this correct or are they wired up wrong?

Cheers guys.

It'll depend on what SORT of quads you have bought.

Morettes, (the originals ) have dip AND MAIN outer pair using an H4 bulb, and MAIN ONLY inners using an H2 bulb. Obviously, main beam is better than OE lights with these, as you have two bulbs lit at the same time, so minimum output is 230W.

There are cheaper copies including those sold as Angel eyes, which have main beam inners (IIRC) and dip beam outers. I'm not sure what sort of bulbs they use.

There is nothing to stop you wiring these so that dip stays on when main beam comes on, (my wife's Xantia is wired like that from new), and it's only an extra relay and a bit of wiring. PM me if you want details. You won't get better main beam though, which is where the Morettes score, but as in everything, you pays your money...........

All 4 should come on for main beam.

I seem to remember having the same problem with mine, if my memory serves me right you need to take the feed from the top wire on the outside lamps to the inside ones and that puts all four on.
