Default Do new WRXs come with gold alloys?

I know STIs always have, but wondered about WRXs...was it an option? Mine was an import, so got it 'as is'.

Reason for asking is that I'm thinking of getting my MY03 wheels refinished and fancy having tarty gold but don't want to declare it to the insurance...

Not sure about a MY03 but a guy I work with has a 51 plate WRX wagon with std size/style wheels in gold which I think was a extra cost option at the time.

Dont think changing the colour of your existing wheels would affect the insurance at all as long as you didnt actually change the size/syle of wheel.

For peace of mind you could tell them

The colour of your wheels shouldn't affect your insurance at all

Yeah to be honest I'll give them a ring when I'm about to do it - they didn't want any extra for a turbo change, so can't see them bothering about the colour of the alloys...

Although you do hear about some insurance companies being extra picky with crap like that...

Shouldn't have thought it would be an issue, James. If summink happened to the car I reckon an engineer would half expect to see gold wheels on an impreza anyway.

I recently went for the 300 limited edition, but if I had gone for a standard WRX, I would have been looking at silver wheels, I think. Of course you can get gold wheels as an option, but I don't think they were standard - certainly the showroom standard model had silver wheels.

The colour won't affect the insurance (surely?) but if anything else is different about the wheel - size etc - then it may well affect it, so you may as well see what the options are. Of course, you could just buy one with standard silver wheels and paint them.

Just to add I have standard wheels on an sti but painted black and yes there was an extra premium as according to the rip off insurance I've made the car look different so more nickable.

I know its bo**ocks but its fact.

There a few wrx's with gold wheels on the front of my local subaru dealership for sale. Not sure if they are selling them as extras but they have a price in the window so i would imagine you get the car as it is
