WR1 or normal STi
What do you reckon about this car, is it a WR1 as stated or is it a standard STi?
Wrong colour and it doesn't look like it has the DCCD button (is this normally next to the button for the mirrors?). Any other clues?

I'd say it's an STi, because AFAIK the WR1's had driving lights, not fog lamps and covers, plus they had like a stainless looking front grille.
Just type subaru wr1 into google and click images, you'll see loads there.

Deffo just an STi. As stated above, WR1's were Ice Blue, had mesh upper and lower grilles, driving lights and Prodrive PFF7's and springs, as well as DCCD, PPP and decals below the side repeators. It should also have a numbered and logo'd tax disc holder.

i heard that parallel import sti's were called WR1's, but that is not a uk WR1, as said, its the wrong colour, seats are wrong, hasn't got DCCD, so its not even a uk sti
the parallel imports are a bit cheaper as they don't have as good underseal as uk ones, and they don't have locking wheel nuts etc.

EU imports were never called WR1's AFAIK The EU market did get a similar special edition to the WR1 which was called the "Petter Solberg" edition IIRC, but it wasn't upto the spec of a WR1 as it didn't come with the PPP or Prodrive springs. Ice blue is available as an option in Europe on standard STi's though.
Type UK's are more expensive than EU imports for a variety of reasons. The underseal issue used to only relate to JDM cars, and some from the likes of Cyprus where the climate negates its need. All Benelux imports are fully undersealed AFAIK. The exclusion of a Cat1 alarm, locking wheel nuts and 3yrs breakdown cover is part of the reason, but it is mostly because we get ripped off for everything and IM are a bunch of greedy b@stards.
