Default 1000 mile service looming!!

Got a Parallell import 55 WRX Wagon from Malta and it is just approaching 1,000 miles.

Phoned a few Subaru dealers and they are quoting between £135 and £140 for this service.

Is this the norm as seems a little toppy to me. I know I need to allow for labour & materials but seems expensive for an oil change.

We have a specialist sports car service agents in the next village that is excellent. They are not an authorised Subaru dealer. Have the rules been changed to allow me to use them and do I need to ask them to use Subaru parts. Also do they need to use any special oil?

You pay the full price on an imported car, if your car is a uk car from a uk subaru dealer you would only have to pay for the parts
140 depending where you are in the uk (ie down south), is about right.

Take your own oil and save about £60.

hi gubby, i've done 1700 in mine already!

my service was £165 (the oil was £35+vat, so next time i'll be taking my own). i thought it was steep, but i don't really have an alternative subaru garage round here (canterbury)

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I was being a liitle tight then thinking £140 was over the top.

What about using an independent specialist. Will this invalidate the Warranty (If I've got one that is).

Yep, if your quibbling over the cost of the cheapest service in the schedule can't see you enjoying the ownership experience!

Well you are wrong on both counts m8.

Cos I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of my Subaru ownership and am not quibbling at all. It costs what it costs, just thought £140 was a lot for an oil change, but if that's what it costs then we shall just have to let some staff go or even sell the cottage in the Cotswolds or the flat in Richmond perhaps. .

Had my 1000 mile service done today.

Welch Group at Shelford near Cambridge carried it out for a reasonable £125.

They carried out the service while I waited and the people I spoke to were very pleasant and helpful.

Looks like I shall be returning to them for all my servicing needs in the future.

I had my 1000 mile service today too (or rather, my car did ) - it cost me £50, but this was parts only as the labour was free. I guess it's about right from what I've read, but it does seem a lot to me for what was mostly just oil! Let's just hope it was good stuff.
