one car - two intercoolers!?
hi,
this question may be very stupid, with a very easy answer:
SUBARU - TMIC
EVO - FMIC
Subaru - tmic to prevet turbo lag yes? due to the position of the turbo (rear of the engine?), it would be beter to have short pipe work between the ic and turbo.
Evo - fmic and more horsepower, yes? (sorry, dont know allot about evos)
my question is this: why cant you fit a tmic to a scoob = not much turbo lag (short pipework), And a fmic = lower charge temps = more horsepower and join the pipework somehow by the turbo. So you are lowering charge temps by having the fmic, and also getting air to the turbo quickly and keeping the 'kick' you get in a Scoob when the turbo kicks in.
OR
Why cant you have one of those tmic like they have on a wrc car, sort of at the front of the engine bay, thus having low turbo lag, and not much heat soak!?

So a std or ppp'd car will still ramp back even with that new tsl chargecooler, cos the sensor is before that thing. So on a hot day the ecu will still ramp back.

just a little aside...but these kits that tilt the intercooler...do they work and worth doing? i have seen a number of claims saying that the temp falls by x degrees but seems a simple mod that i would have thought subaru would have done if it was that easy.

No reason you couldn't put the WRC set-up in your other than cost.
Parts needed,
New Inlet manifold with front facing TB
New Radiator
New IC
New fan set-up probably
Associated pipework
Off the shelf FMIC's are available for a lot less cost than the above would set you back. On the other hand you could uprate the TMIC by changing over to one which has bigger overall dimensions e.g. depth etc but then again you must be sure it has decent flowing properties as this will defeat itself by adding lag to the system.
