Other forums don't have thousands of concurrent users?

It's normally caused by unnecessarily elongated (sp?) words in posts.

I agree - it's very slow. Just clicked on "reply" and it took 10 seconds for the next page to appear, and I'm using wanadoo 1meg broadband. None of the other forums take this long ;-)

Remember that broadband users all have contended connections. Theoretically could be sharing your 512K or 1Mbit connection with up to 50 other users on BT's ATM network. So a few big downloads being performed by other people could slow your connection noticably.

I've got 10Mbit Telewest broadband and the site seems responsive most of the time.

While we appreciate we do have an underlying speed issue (which will require a server OS change to overcome - planned to be investigated as soon as feasibly possible), please be aware that the traffic that SN receives is far in excess of most other sites (not an excuse, and we are aware that some of the bigger sites dont have speed issues, but is worthy point).

Thanks,
Shaun.

It's all down to server load during peak times..... at the moment it's quicker than I can type (since less people are about).

Regards,
Shaun.

Yep, agree with Shaun, peek periods and this place does really slow down

May I ask what sort of server we are running on? If its possible to upgrade without massive cost small donations from members may fix this little issue
