Default scooby type RA's, what are they?

ive been trying to get some info off this site for about 30mins about the type RA's but i cant use the search facility.

If i type "STI RA" or "WRX RA" or just "type RA" then i get lots of posts with just the words STI, WRX and type in them. If i just try searching for RA then it says the word is too short.

i just wanted to know what the differences were between the STI RA and WRX RA. Specifically 0-60 times. I know the STI one is 4.5secs but havent a clue on the WRX one and wanted to know just how much difference there was. Can anyone help?

also, the only difference under the bonnet with the RAs is the gearbox, is this correct. I mean the WRX one still has the same engine and the STI one still has the normal 280BHP STI engine, that right??

I think its just lighter, more race orientated version of an Sti. But also 0-60 in 4.6seconds, about 120mph top end, water I/C spray, no sideskirts, no rear bumper spats, sometimes no rear wing. Also not so many gadgets on the interior such as leccy windows, and air con. I understand it has DCCD!

NICE!!!

The original Type-RA was the cheapest WRX model. As standard a lot of equipment was deleted (radio, power steering, auto aircon, electric mirrors, rear spoiler, body mouldings, sound deadening); this lead to a theoretical weight saving of 50 kilos (1170 v. 1220). The early cars also had a closed-deck block and a 4.111:1 final drive ratio, which is mental. Other than this they are similar mechanically to the equivelant WRX. Later RAs lost the manic final drive ratio and the closed-deck too. The majority of RAs had power steering and sinple aircon fitted as options too, so most dont weigh a deal less than a WRX.

In 1995 the only STI available was built out of an RA; for later years STIs were avaialable as either. An STI Type-RA is a lighter cheaper more focused STI (thats the theory at least).
