Default STi Rear Wing

I currently have an MY04 WRX and want replace the rear wing with an STi spoiler. Does anyone know whether new holes need to be drilled or does it use te exsisting 4 holes?

genuine subaru ones use existing holes i think but cheaper replicas say you need to drill more holes.

There are a few knocking around that use the original holes.

The Rallytech one I brought from DR Motorsport uses the same holes,
There is also a bloke on Ebay that sells STI replica spoilers.
I am sure his uses the original holes too.

Genuine STI ones need extra holes drilled. I think there's another 6, possibly 8.

You could grind off the extra bolts and just use the original 4, but you're better off drilling the extra holes to be safe.

Loads more holes for the genuine STi. As said above, many of the replica's and similar big wings use the original 4 (there's actually 6, as there are also 2 plastic spigotts). Best bet is to either get a replica or get a bootlid and spoiler. Occasionally you can get hold of one from an STi owner who wants to tone down the image (as I did ), otherwise bootlids are IRO £150 plus spraying. Don't pay anyone to fit it though as it's a doddle.

Do a search on here for "Brian Wilson" who I believe is in the Manchester area. Lots of people very happy with his products.

i got an STI replica spoiler from grade a subaru for my 02 wrx, i could have used just the 4 original mounting holes but when youve got the thing in your hands you think- would i trust all this weight with just 4 small bolts? i used all the mounting holes (cant remember if its 8 or 10??) & its solid as a rock. some people have used the original holes & put double sided tape under the spoiler for extra grip.

you might want to wait a week or two as Prodrive appear to have a new wrx spoiler coming out - see Mike Woods post.....

Remember your Insurance Company will want to know ....... and if its Liverpool/Victoria they will not insure you after fitting that wing!

Nobody mentioned the £895 for a subaru dealer to fit the genuine OEM spoiler (including the extra six holes) which is the going rate ..........

Looks exactly like the real thing though

Apparently prodrive are launching a new one for the wrx, I'd guess it fits the original holes too.

Now in stock at Subaru UK, part number SACC2667, and yes it's designed to use the original WRX mounting points (x4).

Thanks, Nick.

Yes, but excludes fitting and the torsion bar that they insist you fit at the same time!

Cheers for the feedback, now even more confused!!!, but I think weve established that a replica will just bolt straight on with no drilling, and I'm b'ggered if i'm spending £895!!

Why do you have to fit a torsion bar with the new rear wing?

The STi spoiler is heavy so it falls on your head when you lift it up ...........LOL The torsion bar is there to keep the boot open

I ordered an STi style spoiler from ScoobyWorld a few weeks back and had it sprayed WR Blue and delivered for £410.

I then paid a local bodyshop to fit it (included drilling a few extra holes) £30.

I'll post some picks over the weekend if your interested. I don't have any to hand now, i'm in work!

Pray tell, my good man, would it be that there is someone who would know when the good organisation, which is prodrive, will make available some visual images and furnish us with additional details?
