Default turbo heat shield

dose anyone know if it is ok to remove the turbo heat shield.i am in the process of fitting a new turbo (md321) and the new pipework will fit neater if i leave the heat shield off.i know you can buy heat jackets,but these are both exspensive and untidy(i beleave).has anyone got any pictures of their heat shields or jackets......cheers.....R25 sti.

you can remove it, just be careful of the extra heat you'll let into the surrounding area, such as the clutch res., steering rack joints etc.

Try and modify the shield to fit, it does a good job of keeping heat away from the intercooler and other things.
