how many catalitic converters are there on a new age sti
and where are they in the system?

I believe they is two on a new age STI, one on the down pipe and one on the centre section, but for some reason the new age WRX has three - same as above but one in the up pipe as well.
Not sure why but I'm sure someone better informed will explain why!

If you have PPP fitted you end up with just One high flow cat in the downpipe.

yup its definite, well not sure about the new age but the classics do have a restrictive cat type layer thing in the up pipe, i bought a helix uppipe for my sti type r, get one, u wont be dissappointed

now thats confusing
i was told its only the new age that has the up pipe cat
i have an 03 sti with 3.5 inch, turbo back, strait through
am i fully de cat or not?

Was pretty sure that the UK Classic Turbos only have the 2 cats.

new age sti's don't have a up-pipe cat.
Only down and mid.

So if you have a turbo back straight through, then you are de-catted and illegal m8.

Might be an idea to source a mid-section cat for your MOT, they can crop up on here cheap.
By memory you will just pass an MOT with just the mid-section cat as long as it's hot.

From what I've been told, the extra cats are there to comply with American emmisions regulations.

Their mot requires a test at start-up from cold.
