22b Arch Kit
#1
Hi All
A friend of mine spends a lot of time in France and tells me he has come across a 22b Arch kit which can be fitted to a 2 or 4 door Scooby. His Sti is now in a French Bodyshop having it fitted (you may have seen his Black Version 4 in Redline a couple of Months ago playing Silly Bu99ers at York Raceway?) It already sports quad headlamps, fade out black windows, 5 Spoke alloys and a pig ugly front spoiler/airdam of his own design.
Apparently the arch kit will soon be available here. Is there any such thing available at present? I’ll get some photos and post them here for opinion. I would have thought if it looks any good that he’ll be knocked over in the rush for them.
Russ,
(still saw at having his V-Limited written off by the local dealer and now driving a lousy Sport Courtesy car.)

I heard about this a while back from an Importer. Though he said the estimated cost would be high because the rear track would have to be widened otherwise the wheels would not look right in the flared arches.
Does the 22b have a wider track than a normal STi ?

The wider track was the first thing i asked about, apparently there's a set of wheel spacers going on.... hmmmm! Not convinced i want to do 150mph on a set of wheel spacers!
The car should be back here in about three weeks. Trouble is, with all the other bits he's put on it, not sure it'll give a fair indication of how it really looks.

Not sure it'll ever be an issue! I just don't trust spacers since a nasty experience in a Mk 11 escort years ago!
So, does the 22b have a wider track, or just spacers on the hub? Sasha, the mate who's having it fitted, tells me he is keeping the 18x8 Ronal (if memory serves) wheels he had fitted earlier in the year, so the offset required must be similar.
It'll be interesting to see i guess

No spacers on the 22B, not on the one I have here anyway.
Wider track is achieved as a result of the 8.5" (as opposed to 7"), wheel and different offset to push wheel further out into arch.
Mike.

We can do 150mph over here because our miles are smaller than in the states so it probably only equates to 27mph over there!
Apparently the kit does come with Rear door replacement panels, its all fibreglass, so kiss goodbye to the front wings too. Spoke to him this arvo, apparently the rear wheels don't look right even with 20mm spacers. The wheels are Khan RSR's in 18x8. So he'll need greater offset rims to fill the arches.
Cost?
Not sure yet, but over the £2k mark. Is that Value for money??? You could buy a PPP kit for that
Or is that a touchy subject?
