Wink

Picasso,
Stick with a good quality panel filter ie "green" cotton , Induction kits don't work to well on new age vehicles unless specifically mapped to take it.My vehicle MY01 Wrx was the original test vehicle for K & N's typhoon kit, great sound nice ish low down, ran awful approaching 3 figs, ie engine detting due to being run too lean......so engine damage ! took it off and told them why. what I have seen most of the designs are similar,as i say with a remap no probs.hope it helps.

Yep... save your money and stick with an uprated Panel Filter. 9 out of 10 Scoobs prefer it!

Regards,
Shaun.

sorry to hijack but why do you need to remap for an uprated filter. Doesnt the maf register the extra flow of air and accomdate fuel accordingly. I know there was a problem with the oiled filters but dry ones should eliminate that problem?

curious thats all

Save your money and stick with a new paper filter.

We have yet to see any flow improvement with a replacement filter that meets Subaru's filtration standards. Any other filter WILL void your warranty, WON'T improve performance other than by making it run leaner because it affects the way the airflow sensor is seeing the airflow and WILL be a waste of time.

I don't know. I had my '03 wrx decatted and remapped by Pat H with standard filter. Was absolutely great. Put a green panel filter on after around 10,000 miles and I feel a big difference. I can rev it all the way to and just beyond the redline in 1st and 2nd without getting fuel cut ( on a bog standard day 15 deg c type of thing ). Car feels definitely more nimble and the induction sound is nice.

Apparently it can mess with the maf sensor which can be a weak spot on a classic. As above you can run lean and suffer det etc. I'm sure some people do run induction kits without problems, but personally I would steer clear.
