Default SECS unit display problems

I keep getting random letters, signs, numbers all over my SEC unit screen, making it unreadable. Some times it flicks back to normal, other times it just shows random rubbish for the whole journey. It seems to be getting worse aswell now. I have checked that all the plugs are put in properly, but this seems to make no difference.

Any ideas?? Its about 4 years old now, so i can't see it being repaired/replaced under warantee.

Have you contacted the supplier/manufacturer?

Austen,

I have got exactly the same problem with my SECS Unit, which is also around the same age.

Having had this problem for a couple of years, I would suggest that it is heat related, as most of the time it is triggered by heat from the sun through the window onto the dash.

I have mailed PSI3 about the possibility of having the unit serviced, but I don't think they could be bothered, by their response.

Disconnecting the leads normally solves the problem for an hour or so.

Martin

Brilliant news!!! My unit seems to be triggered by vibration, hence why i thought it was a loose connection. Sometimes when i belt the top of the dash it comes back to normal, but it seems to be getting worse

Sounds like a dry solder joint on the circuit board, wip the unit out remove side and rear screws and check all solder joints on circuit board resolder any suspect ones and you will prob find that its cured.
